The 24-year-old England National Cricket Team wicketkeeper-batsman Jamie Smith has created history with his stupendous performance with the bat in the first Test of the three-match series against the Sri Lanka National Cricket Team.
Jamie Smith got the opportunity to don the whites for England after the team management decided to move on from Ben Foakes and Jonny Bairstow following the unimpressive performances of the duo.
Smith made his Test debut at the iconic Lord's Cricket Ground in London on July 10 against the West Indies National Cricket Team, and so far, in the 5 innings, he has been extremely impressive. The 24-year-old has taken to Test cricket like a fish to water and has been earning big praise from the entire cricket fraternity.
He further cemented his place in the playing XI by playing a stunning knock at the Old Trafford in Manchester against the Lankan Lions. Jamie Smith smashed 111 runs off 148 halls and his innings consisted of 8 fours and 1 six.
The highlight of his innings was how he hit boundaries at will, and stitched great partnerships, even with the lower-order batters. He partnered with Harry Brook, Chris Woakes, Gus Atkinson, and Matthew Potts in key partnerships
As Jamie Smith hit his maiden hundred in the match against Sri Lanka, he became the youngest England cricketer in history to register a Test ton at the age of 24 years and 42 days.

Recently, the legendary fast bowler Stuart Broad had showered rich praise on the young wicketkeeper-batsman and said that he has a Ben Stokes-like ability to score runs with tailenders.
"He is been superb. Ultimately, this exact scenario England are in now is the reason he got picked, so when he is batting number seven, when Ben Stokes is here, and with the tail, they feel they still feel they can find the boundary and add a good amount of runs when the lower order are in,” Stuart Broad told Sky Sports.
Meanwhile, the England National Cricket Team scored 358 runs in their first innings of the Manchester Test in response to the Sri Lanka National Cricket Team's 236 runs to take a big lead in the match.
