The Ranji Trophy 2025 has been witnessing several shocking twists alongside several cricketers showing their masterclass and posing a question to the national selectors. Ishan Kishan, Prithvi Shaw, Ruturaj Gaikwad, Mohammed Shami, and Karun Nair have all stunned with their prowess in the season.

But the team that, as a unit, has drawn all the attention towards them has been the team from the northernmost province, Jammu and Kashmir. The underdogs are currently second in their group in the Elite League of the Ranji Trophy.

Jammu and Kashmir register first Ranji Trophy win against Delhi

In a steady rise, the Jammu & Kashmir domestic cricket team has shocked the Delhi State Team on their own home ground at the Arun Jaitley Stadium. They registered their first-ever win against the opposition, that too on Delhi's home ground.

To everyone's further surprise, the win looked pretty one-sided, as Delhi, even for once, didn't look to be back in the game. Placed alongside Mumbai, Hyderabad, Rajasthan, Delhi, and Himachal Pradesh among strong opposition in group D, they are currently second in the points table after 2 wins, a los,s and a draw.

Once again, the much-hyped Auqib Nabi was named the player of the match for his 5-wicket haul in the first innings, which had set the tone of Jammu and Kashmir's domination of the Delhi side.

A team effort with Skipper Paras Dogra leading from the front

In the first innings, the Delhi batters struggled against Nabi early on as the top order collapsed. The Delhi middle order gave some resistance, with the Captain once again leading from the front alongside Ayush Doseja and Sumit Mathur. Delhi were bowled out for just 211 after Nabi came back to clear the lower order.

The Jammu and Kashmir innings saw firm resistance from their skipper, Paras Dogra, who stood tall with a 106-run knock and was backed by Abdul Samad's 85 and the wicket-keeper, Kanhaiya Wadhawan's 47. Having taken a 99-run lead, they looked in good form.

Delhi, in return, posted 277 in their second innings, with Ayush Badoni top-scoring for them with a 72 and Doesja backing his innings with a 62. Youngster Vanshaj Sharma stunned the home side this time with a 6-wicket spell that cleaned their accelerating innings.

Qamran Iqbal helped Jammu and Kashmir chase the target of 179 with ease, as he played a career-best innings of 133 off just 147 balls. They earned a victory by 7 wickets over Delhi in Delhi.

Captain Ayush Badoni was the best player on show for Delhi

With Delhi batters failing to promise a decent stint, their skipper Ayush Badoni remained the only in-form batter alongside Ayush Doseja, who too scored half-centuries across both innings. Badoni scored his maiden Duleep Trophy double hundred at the start of this season and played some promising innings for India A against Australia A and South Africa A.

Badoni top-scored for Delhi with 136 runs in the match and was followed by Ayush Doseja with 127 runs across the two innings. Simrajeet Singh and Vansaj Sharma remained the highest wicket-takers for their respective teams, while Qamran Iqbal top-scored with 147 runs for Jammu and Kashmir.
