The now infamous intruder Jarvo 69 made an appearance once again, this time at The Oval. He ran in at full speed to bowl but bumped hard into Jonny Bairstow who was completely caught unawares.

Daniel Jarvis has already been banned from Lord’s and Headingley after breaching security and walking out onto the field. While he came to encourage the Indian team at Lord’s, he strode out fully dressed as a batsman at Headingley.

This time around, he went for the last remaining aspect of Cricket, i.e. bowling. Just as Umesh Yadav was about to go ahead with his bowling run-up, he spotted an intruder blazing towards the pitch. It turned out to be Jarvo 69, rushing in to bowl.

In his ‘enthusiasm’, he bumped into Bairstow at the non-striker’s end. The security started gaining ground on Jarvo, before escorting him away from the ground. It’s the third stunt he has pulled off, and the previous two resulted in life bans from the respective stadiums.

Hosts England was tottering at 62/5 after both overnight batsmen, Craig Overton and Dawid Malan, were sent packing early by Umesh Yadav. India looked right on top of their opponents, before a counter-attack by Ollie Pope and Bairstow pushed England closer to India’s total of 191.

They stitched together a 50-run partnership at almost run-a-ball, and the assault began in Shardul Thakur’s over. After Umesh and Jasprit Bumrah kept things tight, Thakur bowled a few freebies to Pope which began the free-flow of runs.

Bairstow picked up on his partner’s aggression and smoked Mohammed Siraj for 3 boundaries in an over which set things rolling further. In the latest development, England had reached 129/5, trailing India by 62 runs. Bairstow was batting on 31, while Pope was on 34.
