After the cancellation of the practice match between India and India A, the decision was made to participate in a match simulation at WACA to acclimatize to the conditions heading into the Test series opener.
Meanwhile, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) shared a video in which assistant coach Abhishek Nayar and bowling coach Morne Morkel talked about the preparedness of the team.
Abhishek Nayar revealed that the batters were given time in the middle to get used to the conditions and those who got out early during the match simulation were given a second opportunity and they came up with a better showing in that.
"Just before we came to Australia, Gauti bhai and Rohit, we had a discussion on what we wanted out in these three days. The idea was to try and make sure that one for the younger guys and all for the experienced guys to give them a lot of time in the centre to adapt to understand conditions," Nayar said.
“Initially, we got the guys to come in, had it like a game where if you got out, you got out. But then we tried to give them another chance. We felt that the guys adapted better the second time around, they understood the conditions better," he added.
Day two was about our bowlers coming in and bowling spells - Abhishek Nayar
Nayar further revealed that Indian bowlers bowled long spells on day 2 to get their workload up and the pace spearhead Jasprit Bumrah bowled a total of 18 overs.
“Day two was about our bowlers coming in and bowling spells, getting up the workloads, bowling 15 overs each. Boom bowled 18. It was just more about getting guys into the game sense," he said.
In the same video, Morne Morkel was featured, and he expressed his satisfaction with the performance of the bowlers in the sessions. He elaborated:
“Very happy, with how the bowlers went. They summed up the conditions very well. I think we are on track for the 22nd. Another three training sessions left. We’ll sit down this afternoon or tomorrow and start planning, looking at game plans and how we’re going to bring out the best in each and everyone for game time on the 22nd."

Jasprit Bumrah will be key to India's success in BGT 2024-25
The premier pacer, Jasprit Bumrah, will be key to the success of the India National Cricket Team in the iconic five-match Test series against the Australia National Cricket Team.
He will be leading the pace attack of the team that features Mohammed Siraj, Akash Deep, Prasidh Krishna, and Harshit Rana. Bumrah will be missing his long-term bowling partner Mohammed Shami in at least the first half of the series as he just made his comeback to competitive cricket in the Ranji Trophy and looked undercooked.
Jasprit Bumrah will also have an added responsibility on his shoulders in the Perth Test as he will be captaining the Indian team in the absence of Rohit Sharma, who has decided to skip the match to stay with his wife after the birth of their second child. Rohit Sharma, however, will join the team ahead of the second Test in Adelaide.
