Bumrah struck again in the very next over, removing Mitchell Marsh for 5, caught by Virat Kohli at second slip, and then got the big fish in Head.

Bumrah ended Travis Head’s blistering innings of 152 off 160 balls studded with 18 boundaries with Rishabh Pant catching him behind the stumps to complete his five-wicket haul, having already removed the Australian openers Usman Khawaja and Nathan McSweeney in the morning session.

With his blistering display in Brisbane, Jasprit Bumrah recorded his 12th five-wicket haul in Test cricket, and it was his second five-wicket haul in the ongoing Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25 against Australia. He is currently the leading wicket-taker in the Australia Test series with 17 wickets to his name so far.

Additionally, Jasprit Bumrah etched his name in history as he has now held the record for the most five-wicket hauls by an Indian bowler in SENA (South Africa, England, New Zealand, and Australia).

With his incredible performance in the ongoing Gabba Test, Bumrah surpassed Kapil Dev's tally of seven by achieving this feat eight times in the traditional format of the game.
