Jasprit Bumrah's recent visit to the BCCI's Center of Excellence (CoE) caused a fresh injury scare among the Mumbai Indians (MI) ahead of the IPL 2026 season. Days before the opening match of the league, a fresh report emerged regarding the pacer's arrival at the CoE in Bengaluru.

According to a recently published media report, the premier pacer of Team India and MI went to the Centre of Excellence because of workload management, as he went through a hectic schedule in the previous quarter.

As an undisputed spearhead of the Indian bowling line-up, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) always tries to protect the talent so that he can perform in crucial competitions.

Jasprit Bumrah will also play a crucial role in the ODI World Cup 2027

In the next year, Team India will play the ICC ODI World Cup, where Jasprit Bumrah will have to take a crucial role. An expressive number of matches can jolt the board's plan. So, it is better to take precautionary measures in advance.

Before participating in the IPL 2026, the medical advisory panel of the board prescribed strength and conditioning tests to keep the bowler ready for India's upcoming assignment against England. The Men in Blue will be up against the Three Lions in July to play five T20Is and three ODIs.

Jasprit Bumrah has a history of back Injury for which he underwent surgery in 2025. Since then, the BCCI has been as much as possible to protect its assets by managing its workload. For non-essential series, the management often put him out of the squad so that he can keep himself fresh for upcoming endeavours.

Why the ace pacer went to the Centre of Excellence?

As per reports, Jasprit Bumrah is at the CoE primarily to work on strength and conditioning. He is expected to join the Mumbai Indians camp soon, ahead of their first IPL 2026 match, which will be against the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) on March 29 at the Wankhede Stadium.

According to ESPNcricinfo, "Bumrah is at the CoE primarily to work on strength and conditioning. It is understood that the plan for Bumrah to work at CoE has been devised by the BCCI medical team with the focus on India's white-ball tour of England in July where they will play five T20Is and three ODIs."

The pacer had a fantastic International and IPL season in the back

The Mumbai-born played a vital role behind India's success story in the recently concluded 2026 T20 World Cup. In the tournament, the seamer took 14 wickets to end the campaign as the joint-highest wicket-taker. In the final, he claimed 4 wickets against New Zealand to secure the historic win for India.

For the Mumbai Indians, in the previous season, the fast bowler got 18 wickets in 12 matches with an economy rate of 6.67. Overall, Jasprit Bumrah's total wicket-taking tally for the Mumbai-based franchise is 186 wickets in 148 outings. As of now, he is the second-highest wicket-taker for MI after Sri Lankan great Lasith Malinga.
