Jasprit Bumrah has been one of the greatest bowlers of this generation across formats. The skill set the Indian speedster produces is on a different level; he has every skill to bowl in Test matches, ODI, and T20s as well. Bumrah has been one of the key players for India’s success across formats, even overseas as well.
Jasprit Bumrah was the player of the match in the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026 final against New Zealand for his exceptional bowling spell of 4/15. He finished as the joint-leading wicket-taker in the tournament alongside his own teammate Varun Chakravarthy, as both picked 14 wickets. Jasprit Bumrah’s deceptive action makes him more special than the other bowlers in this generation.
Jasprit Bumrah is the best bowler of all time
Jasprit Bumrah is currently playing for the Mumbai Indians (MI) in the TATA Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026; however, he is currently having a rough patch as he has failed to pick wickets in the tournament so far. Ahead of MI’s next match, former MI and World Cup winner Yuvraj Singh shared the memory of facing young Bumrah in the nets.
While speaking on former England captain Michael Vaughan’s podcast, named the Overlap Cricket. Yuvi shared his experience of facing the best bowler of this generation while he was just 16. Vaughan and Yuvi discussed the spell of Jasprit Bumrah in the semi-final of the T20 World Cup 2026 against England, which helped India win the game.
He[Jasprit Bumrah] has to be the best- Yuvraj Singh
Michael Vaughan was awestruck with Bumrah's talent and spell against England at the Wankhede Stadium, Mumbai, and the former captain said, "Mate, I’ve studied him for a long time. We’ve all seen some great bowlers, but I have him as the best I’ve seen."
Yuvraj Singh said, about what makes Jasprit Bumrah special, "If you look at the way the game is evolving, he has to be the best because he’s been so consistent. Batsmen don’t go after him. In fact, they’re almost scared to attack him — they prefer to rotate strike and target the other bowlers. And the moment they try to go after him, he just doesn’t allow it."
I want this kid out of the nets - Yuvraj Singh on facing young Bumrah
Yuvraj Singh praised Bumrah for his exceptional skill set and called his action deceptive, which makes the batters fear charging the pacer, and also, the speedster does not let any batters take control of his bowling much.
Yuvi further added, "He’s incredibly smart. Obviously, he has great skill as well, and his action is deceptive. It’s very hard to pick him especially the ball coming out of his hand. I remember when I was trying to make a comeback into the team after recovering from cancer. He was about 16 years old back then, around 2013, and he was bowling rockets in the nets."
"I actually told him, I want this kid out of the nets. Stop bowling to me, because I was just trying to get back into rhythm. He was bowling that quick. Later, he told me that story that he was bowling to me, and I asked him to stop because he was too fast."
Vaughan said, "Even back then, he had that same tippy-toe run-up." Yuvi replied, "He probably didn’t have all the skills yet, but he was extremely quick. With his action, he gets that deceptive bounce and keeps attacking your ribs. As a batter, you really don’t like that."
