Jasprit Bumrah's waywardness helped Australia chase the target with ease

Former Indian player Robin Uthappa has mentioned that it was due to Jasprit Bumrah's lack of prowess with the new ball that Australia managed to chase the total easily in 2nd T20I. Until the pacer got his rhythm, the fortune was sealed for India.

India lost the second T20I match at the Melbourne Cricket Ground, where the Indian batters had first faltered in front of the Australian pacers, and then the bowlers from the Men in Blue side struggled with the new ball, and the game had slipped away from their hands until the bowlers got their rhythm.

Robin Uthappa analyses Jasprit Bumrah's bowling innings at MCG

After the Indian side was bowled out for just 125 runs, Jasprit Bumrah could have turned the game in India's favor had he dismissed the opening batters, Travis Head or Mitchell Marsh. However, he could not deliver, as the pair started off well with a half-century partnership, which gave Australia a stunning start.

Robin Uthappa said that the team could not deliver with discipline early on, as the early breakthrough could have shifted the momentum, but Indian bowlers, trying too hard for wickets, failed to draw first blood. Harshit Rana, bowling from the other end, further relieved the batters of any pressure.

"When we were bowling after scoring 125, the start was very important. If we had picked up two or three wickets in the first three or four overs, the game could have been closer because we have quality spinners in the middle overs. I felt we were probably trying too hard to pick up wickets. So we got a little wayward," Uthappa said on Star Sports.

"Whenever Jasprit Bumrah gets desperate to pick up wickets, he becomes slightly wayward," noted Uthappa

Robin Uthappa analyzed the rare bad day for the Indian fast-bowling stalwart. He noted that Jasprit Bumrah loses his accuracy as well as his prowess when he becomes too eager to pick wickets, which led the opposition team to dominate the Indians early in the innings.

"I have observed that whenever Jasprit Bumrah gets desperate to pick up wickets, he becomes slightly wayward, and when he is disciplined and hits a good line and length, he mostly picks up wickets. Australia took full advantage of that waywardness at the start, the way we started with the ball in the second innings," he added.

Josh Hazlewood played his last T20I match of the India series

Josh Hazlewood, the premier Australian fast bowler, has been their leading campaigner across the entire white-ball tour. He has played all three ODIs and was their finest bowler, as he troubled the Indian batters with a very low economy.

Hazlewood kept his good form in the T20I series, as he picked three wickets in the second game at the MCG with just 13 runs given away in his 4 overs. Ahead of the Ashes, Hazelwood has been rested to an extent so that he can gear up for the red-ball tournament.

India will be relieved with Xavier Bartlett and Nathan Ellis spearheading the attack in the absence of Josh Hazelwood, who has been a nightmare for the Indian team.
