Fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah is on the brink of a major milestone ahead of the first T20I match between Team India and South Africa. The pace spearhead needs just one more wicket to join a very exclusive list, becoming only the second Indian bowler after Arshdeep Singh to reach 100 wickets in T20 Internationals.

Bumrah was rested for the three-match ODI series against South Africa to manage his workload. The 32-year-old fast bowler was outstanding, taking eight wickets, including a five-for, during the two-match Test series. His absence from the ODI squad wasn’t felt as the Men in Blue secured the series by a margin of 2-1.

Jasprit Bumrah One Wicket Away From Joining Arshdeep Singh In 100-Wicket Club

Jasprit Bumrah has taken 99 wickets from 80 T20Is. He needs just one more strike to join Arshdeep Singh as only the second Indian to enter the 100-wicket club in the format.

If Bumrah reaches the mark, he will become the first Indian bowler ever to claim 100 wickets in all three formats (Tests, ODIs, and T20Is), a rare achievement.

Arshdeep is the leading wicket-taker for India in T20Is with 105 scalps, while Bumrah now has the chance to cement his legacy further in the shortest format. Meanwhile, Afghanistan skipper Rashid Khan sits at the top of the global list with 182 wickets.

India’s Leading T20I Wicket-Takers:

Jasprit Bumrah Set To Become First Indian With 100 Wickets In All Formats

Jasprit Bumrah could become the first Indian bowler ever to take 100 wickets in Tests, ODIs, and T20Is. Only four players in the world have managed this so far.

Bumrah made his debut in 2016 and has taken 234 wickets in Tests, 149 in ODIs, and 99 in T20Is (482 international wickets). His consistency, adaptability, and impact across formats have made him one of the most feared fast bowlers of his generation.

Only Tim Southee, Shakib Al Hasan, Shaheen Afridi, and Lasith Malinga have previously completed the three-format century. Bumrah is now set to become the fifth.

Another player close to the milestone is West Indies all-rounder Jason Holder, who has 97 T20I wickets. The West Indies cricketer has picked up 162 wickets in 69 Tests and 159 wickets in 138 ODIs.

Four Bowlers With 100 Or More Wickets In Each Format:

Player Team Test Wickets ODI Wickets T20I Wickets
Lasith Malinga Sri Lanka 101 (30 Tests) 338 (226 ODIs) 107 (84 T20Is)
Tim Southee New Zealand 391 (107 Tests) 221 (161 ODIs) 164 (124 T20Is)
Shakib Al Hasan Bangladesh 246 (71 Tests) 317 (247 ODIs) 149 (129 T20Is)
Shaheen Shah Afridi Pakistan 121 (33 Tests) 132 (71 ODIs) 122 (96 T20Is)
