Jasprit Bumrah picks this player as his favourite captain; ignores MS Dhoni, Rohit Sharma, and Virat Kohli
India's star fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah has named his favourite Indian captain and it is not MS Dhoni, Virat Kohli, or Rohit Sharma. Bumrah is currently enjoying his break after a hectic few months which involved the home Test series against England, IPL 2024, and the T20 World Cup 2024.
While the Indian team is currently in Sri Lanka for a three-match T20I series and a three-match ODI series, Bumrah has been given time to be fresh and available for the home Test series against Bangladesh in September.
India have some important series and tournaments coming up in the next year or so. This is the reason the selectors want India's best paceman to be fully fit and raring to go in the important games.

Jasprit Bumrah picks this player as his favourite Indian captain
During an event organized by The Indian Express, Jasprit Bumrah was asked about his favourite Indian captain. Bumrah has been led by three successful Indian captains in his international career MS Dhoni, Virat Kohli, and Rohit Sharma. But the right-arm quick did not take the names of any of these greats and instead picked himself.
"My favourite captain has always been me because I have captained a few games. Obviously, there are great captains, but I am going to take my name...I am my favourite captain," Bumrah said.
Jasprit Bumrah has led India in one Test and two T20Is so far. His captaincy debut for India was against England on July 22 in a rescheduled Test at Edgbaston, Birmingham. The 30-year-old also led India in a couple of T20Is against Ireland in Dublin in 2023 where he made his comeback into the team after a long injury lay-off.
Jasprit Bumrah hails Rohit Sharma
Bumrah also lauded India's current Test and ODI captain Rohit Sharma for his evolution as a captain. He believes that Rohit is approachable to everyone in the team and is a great captain who learns from his mistakes.
“There is so much to learn from Rohit Sharma and how he has evolved as a captain; he has learned from mistakes, opened to feedback, is not rigid, listens to everyone, and then finally filters it out. I am grateful and privileged to have played under his captaincy for a long time," Bumrah said.
India's pace bowling spearhead also added that Rohit Sharma treats everyone in the team equally and always makes everyone comfortable.
"Rohit Sharma makes youngsters feel there are no juniors and seniors in the team. He doesn't let them think that this is not their team. He always makes them feel that they are a very important part of this team," he mentioned.
Bumrah has played under Rohit Sharma for a long time. Not only for India, Rohit has been Bumrah's captain while playing for Mumbai Indians right from his IPL debut in 2013. Rohit Sharma and Jasprit Bumrah played key roles in Mumbai Indians' golden era when they clinched five IPL trophies in eight seasons.
