India skipper Rohit Sharma provided a massive update about the availability of Jasprit Bumrah for the last Test of the series against England. He said that they haven’t decided anything yet and will take a call in a few days.
India played the fourth Test without the services of Jasprit Bumrah. The fast bowler was released from the squad for the game as BCCI decided to rest him. The Indian vice-captain put in the hard yards in the first three games and performed magnificently well for the team.
Despite the pitch not offering anything for the seamers, Jasprit Bumrah made sure that he oozed his class and helped his team win the game. The fast bowler played an instrumental role in India winning the second and the third game of the series after bagging a disappointing loss in the first match.
Jasprit Bumrah despite missing the fourth game is the leading wicket-taker for India in the series. The fast bowler in three games has bagged 17 wickets at an average of just over 13. The fast bowler has bowled around 81 overs in the series and to manage his workload he was rested.
With India winning the series already, the focus now turns towards the last game of the series. The last game of the series between the teams will be played in Dharamsala from 7th March. There will be a decent amount of rest for the players for the game and it is expected that all the players will be available.
After the fourth Test match in Ranchi, Rohit Sharma was asked if Jasprit Bumrah would be given an extra amount of rest, considering that the team had already won the series. Replying to this, the India captain stated: “We haven’t decided anything on it yet (smiles).”

“Dekho, jinko Test Cricket ki bhook nahi hain, wo dekh ke hi pata chal jata hain. Un sabko khilane ka kya faida phir? (See, the one who doesn’t have hunger to play Tests can be seen, what’s the meaning of playing them).”
My job is to make sure that we give youngsters the environment that they want to be in – Rohit Sharma
India captain Rohit Sharma opened up about his role as skipper to youngsters. He said that he wants to give them an environment that they want to be in and it’s important that be gives all the players clarity. He added:
“So, my job and Rahul [Dravid] bhai’s job is to make sure that we give them the environment that they want to be in. And they don’t feel too much about going out there and getting the job done. They want to get the job done, but it is no point keeping talking to them about it or reminding them about it. Because when they come here, they’re very clear in what they want to do.”
The Rohit Sharma-led side would want to end the series on high and win the Dharamsala game to clinch the series by 4-1.
