Following the ongoing two-match Test series against Bangladesh, the Indian cricket team will host New Zealand for three matches before embarking on their challenging Test tour of Australia later this year.

Jasprit Bumrah is very well aware of the need to stay fit and ready for the challenges that await in Australia, where conditions and match intensity will be different from what he faces at home.

Jasprit Bumrah told host broadcaster Sports18 ahead of the fourth day's play in Kanpur: “You have to be smart (to stay fit for Australia), and it's good to get some overs under the belt here, although the number of overs to be bowled will be a lot more in Australia.”

Speaking about the ongoing Kanpur Test against Bangladesh, Jasprit Bumrah reflected on the unpredictable nature of cricket, particularly regarding weather conditions that can impact the gameplay, as almost the first three days of the ongoing second and final Test were washed out due to rain and a poor drainage system.

The Indian pacer further noted, “Weather is not in your control; it is the way it is. Good to get some time to relax. You've got to quickly adjust to the changing conditions here after Chennai, quickly adapt, and communicate with others, like about changing lines and lengths.”

The upcoming five-match Test series against Australia is set to kick off in Perth on November 22, and all eyes will be on Bumrah, who has been instrumental in India’s success since the pacer made a comeback after an injury layoff.

Bumrah signed off by saying, “My favorite format is the tests; I've always said that. I'm trying to give my absolute best in this format.” Notably, the Indian pacer picked up three wickets in the first innings against Bangladesh, while the hosts have declared their first innings at 285/9 in Kanpur.
