Team India wicketkeeper-batter KL Rahul recently said that ace pacer Jasprit Bumrah is the hardest bowler to hit in international and franchise cricket. The opening batter joked that the right-arm fast bowler would “break his head or toe” during the net sessions if he claimed to have a good record against him.

Rahul holds a decent record against Bumrah in the Indian Premier League (IPL). The batter has faced 118 deliveries from Bumrah, managing to score a total of 146 runs at a strike rate of 123.7. Notably, Bumrah has dismissed the veteran batter only twice in the IPL at an average of 73.0 in the T20 tournament.

He'll Break My Head or Break My Toe - KL Rahul or Jasprit Bumrah

Speaking to Jatin Sapru, KL Rahul was asked about his good record against Jasprit Bumrah in the IPL. Rahul stated that he wouldn’t claim such a thing because Bumrah would “break his head or toe” in practice.

The right-handed batter added that hitting a shot against Bumrah in the nets is extremely difficult, and the bowler’s intensity makes it even tougher.

"I will not agree because he'll break my head in the next nets. In the IPL, he'll break my head or break my toe in the next session, so I'm not saying anything about this. Very, very, very angry. But first of all, it's not easy to hit him in the net," Rahul said.

He's the Hardest Bowler to Hit - KL Rahul on Jasprit Bumrah

KL Rahul called Jasprit Bumrah the toughest bowler to attack. Rahul admitted that Indian players manage to handle him only because they face him every day and get used to his action. He said that for visiting teams, trying to score off him becomes incredibly difficult.

"He's the hardest bowler to hit, for sure. Now, I think, at least we play him day in and day out. So, he'll get used to action at the least point a little bit," Rahul stated.

"But if we're just facing him as an opposition from a different country, no a chance. Very difficult. Very, very difficult. To pick him, firstly, and defend against him. Then to even think of scoring against him becomes that much more harder," he added.

India lost the Opening Test by 30 Runs at Eden Gardens in Kolkata

South Africa bounced back after being bowled out for just 159 runs on the opening day. They defeated India by 30 runs in the first Test at Eden Gardens. India collapsed to 93 on the third day in tough batting conditions.

Simon Harmer took 4 wickets for 21 and dismantled India’s line-up. India also struggled without Shubman Gill, who was ruled out after a neck injury. Earlier, Temba Bavuma anchored South Africa with an unbeaten 55, and his 44-run stand with Corbin Bosch put India under pressure.

Harmer finished with eight wickets in the match and was named Player of the Match. The series will now move to Assam, where the second and final Test begins on November 22.
