Jasprit Bumrah wins ICC Men’s Cricketer of the Year 2024 award, joins Tendulkar, Kohli in elite list

The International Cricket Council (ICC) on Tuesday (28th January) announced the ICC Men’s Cricketer of the Year 2024. India National Cricket Team fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah has won the Sir Garfield Sobers Trophy for his remarkable performances with the ball in 2024.

Jasprit Bumrah defeated England National Cricket Team batters Joe Root and Harry Brook, along with Australia National Cricket Team batter Travis Head, to win the award. He became the first pacer from India to win the ICC Men’s Cricketer of the Year award in history.

Overall, Jasprit Bumrah became the fifth player from the India National Cricket Team to win the ICC Men's Cricketer of the Year award. He joined Rahul Dravid (2004), Sachin Tendulkar (2010), Ravichandran Ashwin (2016) and Virat Kohli (2017, 2018) in an elite list of cricketers

Jasprit Bumrah was one of the main reasons behind the India National Cricket Team winning the ICC T20 World Cup 2024. The premier pacer was awarded Player of the Tournament for his heroics with the ball as he picked 15 wickets at an astonishing average of 8.26 and an economy of just 4.17.

The fast bowler also played a crucial role in the final as well, where he picked 2-18 from four overs, including the big wickets of Reeza Hendricks and Marco Jansen and helped his team end the ICC title drought.
