The International Cricket Council (ICC) on Tuesday (28th January) announced the ICC Men’s Cricketer of the Year 2024. India National Cricket Team fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah has won the Sir Garfield Sobers Trophy for his remarkable performances with the ball in 2024.

Jasprit Bumrah defeated England National Cricket Team batters Joe Root and Harry Brook, along with Australia National Cricket Team batter Travis Head, to win the award. He became the first pacer from India to win the ICC Men’s Cricketer of the Year award in history.

Overall, Jasprit Bumrah became the fifth player from the India National Cricket Team to win the ICC Men's Cricketer of the Year award. He joined Rahul Dravid (2004), Sachin Tendulkar (2010), Ravichandran Ashwin (2016) and Virat Kohli (2017, 2018) in an elite list of cricketers

Jasprit Bumrah, who also won the ICC Test Cricketer of the Year award, was nothing short of exceptional with the ball in 2024. He took his game to a whole different level in both red-ball as well as white-ball cricket and helped the India National Cricket Team win many games from the losing position.

Jasprit Bumrah was one of the main reasons behind the India National Cricket Team winning the ICC T20 World Cup 2024. The premier pacer was awarded Player of the Tournament for his heroics with the ball as he picked 15 wickets at an astonishing average of 8.26 and an economy of just 4.17.

Jasprit Bumrah's best came in the Test format. He was staggering with the ball as he picked 71 wickets in Tests in 2024, which is the most by any bowler in the year. He also picked five fifers in the 13 games that he played, helping the India National Cricket Team win games.

Jasprit Bumrah brought his best with a red ball during the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25. The India National Cricket Team pacer picked 32 wickets in the series, which was the most by any pacer in the longest format of the game in Australia. He also won the Player of the Series award as well.

Jasprit Bumrah returned with the figures of 3-14 in the match and put Pakistan under pressure. The fast bowler also played a crucial role in the final as well, where he picked 2-18 from four overs, including the big wickets of Reeza Hendricks and Marco Jansen and helped his team end the ICC title drought.
