BCCI secretary Jay Shah has spoken very highly of the Indian men's and women's national cricket team. Both have achieved tremendous success in the recent past.
Indian men's team won the T20 World Cup earlier this year while the women's team qualified for the final of the women's Asia Cup.
The Indian men's team has been performing brilliantly across formats for the last 10-12 years. They qualified for the semi-final in almost every ICC event in the last few years but failed at the final hurdle.
They overcame that as well as Rohit Sharma and his players won the T20 World Cup for the second time.
Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli then announced their retirements from T20I cricket allowing the younger players in the Indian team to take over.
Meanwhile, Jay Shah has gone on to say that the Indian team both men's and women's teams will add more trophies to their cabinet in the next ICC events.
The Indian women’s team will take part in the 2024 T20 World Cup to be hosted in UAE and aim to claim the title for the first time in their history having finished runners-up in 2020.

The men's team, on the other hand, will play in the ICC Champions Trophy next year followed by the WTC final. Interestingly, Jay Shah accurately predicted that India would win the T20 World Cup earlier this year in February and the same happened in June. He has now predicted India to achieve more success in ICC tournaments.
“What next? I would like to remind everyone what I said before the T20 World Cup, that Rohit Sharma will plant the Indian flag at Barbados and he did,” Shah said during an event in Mumbai on Wednesday.
“When you have 1.4 billion people’s blessings, I can say we will do the same in the Champions Trophy, World Test Championship final and women’s T20 World Cup,” he added.
Jay Shah Awarded For Excellence In Sports Administration
Jay Shah was awarded the award for ‘excellence in sports administration’ at a cricket awards ceremony. Rohit Sharma who was also present at the award was awarded the men’s international cricketer of the year award.
“I dedicate the award to all our women players, our 2023 ODI runners-up team and the 2024 T20 World Cup team,” Shah said.
Meanwhile, Jay Shah is all set to become the next ICC Chairman and is expected to win unopposed. His stint is selected will start on December 1 with Gren Barclay set to end his stint on November 1. Shah has done some brilliant work for men's and women's cricket as the ACC Chairman and is now looking to develop the game as the next ICC Chairman.
"For the election to proceed, at least one additional candidate must enter the race and it's not clear whether there will be a contest at all," said an ICC source in the know of things. It will depend on what Mr Jay Shah decides. If he files a nomination, there will be no election. He will be elected unopposed," a source close to the ICC said.
