Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) Secretary Jay Shah expressed confidence in the Rohit Sharma-led team's winning chances against Australia later this year. Jay Shah stated that the Indian National Cricket Team is well-prepared for the upcoming Border-Gavaskar Trophy (BGT) in away conditions.

The Men in Blue will tour Australia for a five-match Test series later this year. The first match is scheduled to be played in Perth starting on November 22. Adelaide, Brisbane, Melbourne, and Sydney will host the remaining four matches. Team India has the opportunity for a hat-trick of Test series wins in Australia.

India and Australia have an intense rivalry in Test cricket. Team India managed to draw the Test series in 2003. They defeated the Australian team in Perth during the 2007-08 tour. However, India faced setbacks with a couple of whitewashes after that. The Indian team bounced back stronger to challenge Australia.

Our Team Is Well Prepared - Jay Shah

In a recent interview, Jay Shah highlighted that Jasprit Bumrah and Mohammed Shami would be fit and ready. Shah added that the Indian team is experienced, with the presence of seniors like Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli. Shah mentioned that India is well-prepared for the upcoming series.

“Our team is well prepared. We have rested Jasprit Bumrah for a while. Mohammed Shami is expected to be fit too. This is an experienced side now. Seniors like Rohit and Kohli are fit,” Jay Shah was quoted as saying by the Times of India.

Jasprit Bumrah will lead the Indian bowling attack in the upcoming series. He has taken 32 wickets in Australia at an average of 21.25. Bumrah will need support from other fast bowlers to challenge Australia. Mohammed Shami, who is currently recovering from an injury, is expected to be available for the tour.

Ravi Shastri and Ricky Ponting Predict Winner of Border-Gavaskar Trophy

The upcoming five-match Test series between India and Australia is expected to be a blockbuster. Experts are already making predictions for the highly anticipated series. Former World Cup-winning captain Ricky Ponting predicted Australia to win 3-1, while former all-rounder Ravi Shastri backed Team India.

“I’m obviously going to tip Australia to win and I’m never going to tip against Australia. There will be a draw somewhere and there will be some bad weather somewhere, so I’m going to say 3-1 to Australia,” Ponting said.

"It is going to be one heck of a series and India have every chance of making it a hat-trick because they've got their bowlers fit and if they can bat well, they can tickle (beat) Australia once again," Ravi Shastri said.

India registered their first-ever Test series victory in Australia during the 2018-2019 tour. They repeated the same feat during the 2020-21 tour even without some key players in the squad. It's worth mentioning that Australia hasn't won a Test series against Team India since their 2014-15 home series.
