Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) secretary Jay Shah is all set to continue in the role till the end of November. As per the reports in Hindustan Times, it is learned that the decision to appoint a new secretary won't be part of the upcoming BCCI Apex Council.

Jay Shah recently was appointed as the chairman of the International Cricket Council. The current secretary of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) will be taking over the charge of the global cricket board from 1st December. He was elected unopposed as he got support from 15 members of the ICC.

But with Jay Shah being appointed as the next Chairman of the ICC, this leaves a massive problem for the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) as they will be without a secretary. They would be on the hunt for a candidate who would be replacing Shah in the post. But so far the governing body doesn't want to look for a suitable candidate.

Jay Shah doesn't want to step down from the post till the end of November

This is because Jay Shah doesn't want to step down from the post till the end of November. The BCCI Apex Council is scheduled to meet on Wednesday to address various issues related to the board's operations. It was expected that the appointment of a new secretary would be on their agenda for the meeting.

But it won't be the case as Jay Shah will continue in the post till he takes charge of ICC. The meeting will be the final apex council meeting before the board's 93rd Annual General Meeting in Bengaluru, which will take place after five days. A total of 8 issues will be addressed in the AGM, and there will be nothing related to the process of nomination for a new secretary.

The major part of the agenda will be to discuss the matter related to Byju, who was BCCI's title sponsor. They terminated their deal midway through their contract and have unpaid dues from October 2022 to March 2023, even though payments were made until September 2022.

The development of the new National Cricket Academy will be addressed as well during the BCCI's AGM. Also, there will be talks related to the renovation of the body's office in Mumbai along with the developing cricket infrastructure in India's northeastern regions.

Here are the highlights of the agendas for BCCI's annual meeting (as per Hindustan Times)

- Byju's Matter: A payment settlement issue with the edtech firm, which ended its sponsorship deal with BCCI in March last year, will be discussed. The controversy revolves around unpaid dues from October 2022 to March 2023.

- National Cricket Academy Inauguration: Plans for the state-of-the-art academy on Bengaluru's outskirts will be addressed. Currently, the NCA operates at the M Chinnaswamy stadium premises.

- BCCI Headquarters Renovation: Approval for exterior renovation work on the Mumbai headquarters will be sought.

- North East Development Project: Discussions will focus on developing cricket infrastructure in India's northeastern regions.
