BCCI secretary Jay Shah’s side came out on top when it locked horns against the team led by BCCI president Sourav Ganguly in an exhibition match on Wednesday. The Jay Shah-led side won the game by 28 runs at the Motera Stadium in Ahmedabad.

Batting first, the Jay Shah XI posted 128 for 3 on the board in the allotted 12 overs. Jaydev Shah (38) and former India captain Mohammad Azharuddin (37) were the star contributors with the bat for the BCCI secretary’s side.

Jay Shah himself failed to make a big impression with the bat as he was out for just 2 off 6 balls. Incidentally, he was dismissed by his counterpart Sourav Ganguly. Towards the end of the innings, former BCCI treasurer Anirudh Chaudhry hit an unbeaten 10 off 7 balls that included a six.

In reply, Sourav Ganguly XI failed to score the required runs and ended their innings on 100 for 4 in 12 overs despite their skipper scoring a fine unbeaten fifty. The former India skipper turned back the clocks as he smashed 53 off just 32 balls but his heroic knock eventually went in vain. Jay Shah, on the other hand, made a difference with the ball after failing to do so with the bat.

He picked up 2 wickets for 39 runs from 4 overs while Jaydev Shah also bagged one scalp. Shah could have had a third, but Ganguly’s catch was dropped off his bowling. The players from both teams were dressed in retro kits.

BCCI AGM:

The match was being played just a day before BCCI’s Annual General Meeting (AGM) in Ahmedabad. The board will discuss several important topics during the meeting including the upcoming series against England at home. Ganguly’s conflict of interest controversy, resumption of domestic tournaments and the inclusion of two new teams in the Indian Premier League (IPL) will be on the agenda of BCCI AGM too.
