Jemimah Rodrigues breaks Smriti Mandhana's all-time record, tops elite list in milestone 100th T20I

India Women's National Cricket Team batter Jemimah Rodrigues achieved an incredible milestone for the team in the T20Is. She became the 4th player from the team to play 100 games in the shortest format of the game, joining the likes of Harmanpreet Kaur and Smriti Mandhana.

Jemimah Rodrigues achieved the feat in the ongoing final of the Women's Asia Cup 2024 against the Sri Lanka Women's National Cricket Team. The summit clash of the tournament between the teams is taking place at the Rangiri Dambulla International Stadium in Dambulla on Sunday (28th July).

Jemimah Rodrigues has been an incredible servant for the India Women's National Cricket Team in the T20Is. She has been the match-winner for the team over the years and there won't be a better occasion for her to play the 100th game than in the final of the Women's Asia Cup 2024.

In the ongoing Women's Asia Cup 2024, Jemimah Rodrigues hasn't got much opportunity to bat but she would be hoping to set the stage on fire in the final. The right-hander would be keen to make an impact in the big final and help her team lift the title in her special game.

Jemimah Rodrigues became the youngest player in Women's cricket to play 100 games in the T20Is at 23 years and 327 days. She surpassed her teammate Smriti Mandhana to achieve the feat and sit at the top of the list.

Jemimah Rodrigues made her T20I debut against South Africa in Potchefstroom in 2018. So far, in the 99 T20I games, she has mustered 2045 runs at an average of 30.52 and a strike rate of 113.67. Her highest score came against Sri Lanka in 2022 when she played an innings of 76 runs.

Overall, Jemimah Rodrigues became the 4th batter from India to play 100 T20Is. She joined Harmanpreet Kaur, Smriti Mandhana, and Deepti Sharma in an elite list for the team.

Ahead of the game, Jemimah Rodrigues talked about her new batting position at No.5 and stated that she is happy to bat anywhere for the team. She said that she is keen to learn and wants to play positive and aggressive cricket. She added that as a team, they need to be consistent and keep doing well. Speaking to broadcasters, she explained:

"(On her new batting position at No. 5) Nothing much has changed in my mindset; the key was to adapt to the situation, and I’m happy wherever the team wants me to bat. My routine is still the same, but I’m trying to add to my game every time; I want to play positive and aggressive cricket and keep dominating.

"What we have been speakingabout since the South Africa serie,s which took place before that Asia Cu,p is that, we need to be consistent in whatever we are doing, and that will be the key heading into the World Cup. We understand the chemistry and we understand each other, we need to keep up the consistency and keep doing well."
