The England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) gave veteran India fast bowler Jhulan Goswami an autographed England shirt to honour her retirement at Lord’s.

After the end of the ODI series against England, Ms. Jhulan Goswami, a former captain of India, declared her retirement from international cricket. Jhulan, who made her debut in 2002, represented India in 12 Tests, 204 ODIs, and 68 T20Is, taking 355 wickets during her international career, which was the second-longest in women’s international cricket.

India defeated England in the ODI series 3-0, with Jhulan Goswami returning with the figures of 2/30 in the third game, which was tarnished by a contentious Deepti Sharma runout.

During the game, the 39-year-old also had an honor guard consisting of England and India players. After that, Goswami and her teammates ran a victory lap to celebrate India’s historic series triumph.

A unique gift was delivered to the great fast bowler ahead of the match, with India captain Harmanpreet Kaur breaking down in tears. Harmanpreet also won the toss for the third ODI against Goswami.

“I have played two World Cup finals but couldn’t win the trophy. That remains my only regret because you prepare for a World Cup for four years. There is a lot of hard work that goes in. For every cricketer, it is a dream-come-true moment to win a World Cup,” Goswami had said ahead of her farewell match.

“My best memory is when I got the India cap and bowled the first over because I never imagined (that I will play for India). The journey was difficult as I had to travel for two-and-half hours by local train one way every day for training. In 1997, I was a ball girl at the Eden Gardens where I saw my first women’s World Cup final. From that day, my dream was to represent India.”

The victory gave India’s bowling stalwart Jhulan Goswami the perfect send-off as he completed a clean sweep of the series against England by scores of 3-0. In her final international appearance, Goswami claimed two wickets and posted outstanding figures of 2/30 in 10 overs.
