Ravichandran Ashwin Criticizes Sam Billings Over Controversial Deepti Sharma Mankad remarked that consider awarding the wicket to the bowler for “presence of mind” under immense pressure.

Deepti Sharma displayed exceptional game awareness to run Charlotte Dean at the non-end strikers of the third and final women’s ODI between India and England to earn a 16-run victory for India.

The Marylebone Cricket Club (MCC) recently shifted the dismissal, more widely and colloquially known as “Mankad” among the cricket community, from the “Unfair Play” section to the “Run out” area, and the International Cricket Council soon after authorized the style of removal.

Dean and Freya Davis made an unexpected comeback for the hosts when they were down by 118 runs in the 170-run chase for England. When Dean was run out by Deepti in the 44th over of the innings, they had put together a 35-run partnership.

As is customary with this method of dismissal, the cricket community reacted to it in a variety of ways. A number of England stars, including Stuart Broad and Sam Billings as well as former captain Nasser Hussain, voiced their displeasure. Ravichandran Ashwin, India’s top off-spinner, praised Deepti on the decision.

Ravichandran Ashwin criticizes Sam Billings for his tweet:

The Harmanpreet Kaur-led squad won the match by 16 runs, completing the unprecedented sweep. But it was the Deepti moment that sparked outrage. While English fans, commentators, and fans thought that was wrong, Sam Billings took it a step further. Sam questioned James Anderson on Twitter how many more wickets he would have gotten if he had done the Mankad.

His post read: “Imagine how many more wickets you could get James.”

Ravichandran Ashwin supports Deepti Sharma’s run-out decisions:

Ravichandran Ashwin, India’s cricketer, responded and expressed his thoughts. Ashwin said that “In fact that’s a great idea. How about awarding that wicket to the bowler for “ presence of mind” under immense pressure and of course knowing the social stigma that he/she would have to deal with post doing it. How about a bravery award to go with it too @ICC”

The victory gave India’s bowling stalwart Jhulan Goswami the perfect send-off as he completed a clean sweep of the series against England by scores of 3-0. In her final international appearance, Goswami claimed two wickets and posted outstanding figures of 2/30 in 10 overs.
