Joe Root surpasses Shivnarine Chanderpaul in historic Sachin Tendulkar-led Test cricket list

England National Cricket Team batter Joe Root achieved a massive feat in the history of Test cricket. The middle-order batter surpassed West Indies legend Shivnarine Chanderpaul to become the 8th leading run-getter in the history of the longest format of the game.
Joe Root achieved the feat in the ongoing Day 4 of the second match between the England National Cricket Team and the West Indies National Cricket Team. The penultimate game of the three-match Test series between the teams is underway at Trent Bridge in Nottingham.
Joe Root, who came to bat at No.4 in the second innings, looked in great touch and made sure that he helped his team extend the second-innings lead. The right-hander arrived at the crease when England lost Ollie Pope for 51 and since then he hasn't put a foot wrong in his innings.
Joe Root along with Harry Brook (109) then took the game away from the opposition as the duo batted incredibly well and made sure that they helped the team take a lead of over 300 runs on the board and put the West Indies National Cricket Team under pressure with their 189 runs partnership.
Joe Root in particular looked good to eyes as played some crisp shots in his innings. The right-hander so far has played flawless knocks and is making sure that he completely takes the game away from the West Indies National Cricket Team. The middle-order batter scored runs in all parts of the ground.
During the course of his innings, Joe Root also surpassed Shivnarine Chanderpaul in terms of leading run-getter in the Tests. The batter now has over 11869 runs to his name. The middle-order also is just a few runs away from surpassing Brian Lara in the elite list as well.
Joe Root also brought up his 66th half-century in Test cricket. He joined greats in Rahul Dravid and Allan Border as the batters with the most fifties in the longest format of the game. He now has Sachin Tendulkar (68) and Shivnarine Chanderpaul (66) ahead of him in the elite list.
