The weather made all the arrangements to spoil the cricket festival at the Barsapara Stadium in Guwahati. Groundsmen were always prepared to keep the ground ready for at least a few overs between the Rajasthan Royals (RR) and the Mumbai Indians (MI).

The total number of overs was reduced, but the excitement remained the same. Expectations went sky-high when Yashasvi Jaiswal and Vaibhav Sooryavanshi started to smash the ball for fun.

Jofra Archer came and hit the bullseye

Rajasthan Royals eventually won the match over the Mumbai Indians, and after the match, they celebrated the victory by cutting a cake. While Ravindra Jadeja was busy with cake cutting, RR pacer Jofra Archer came, watched, and simply picked a bottle of champagne and walked off. He chose to celebrate the moment in his own way.

Watch the moment when Jofra Archer hijacked a bottle of champagne:

Overs reduced but excitement was high

Because of rain in the early hours of the scheduled match, the total number of overs was reduced to 11 overs each. Batting first, in 11 overs, RR, the home team posted 150 runs because of Yashasvi Jaiswal's unbeaten 77 off 32 and Vaibhav Sooryavanshi's 39 off 14. Captain Riyan Parag also smashed a 20-run knock from 10 balls, with a strike rate of 200.00.

In 11 overs, the target of 151 proved enough to defeat the 5-time IPL winners, the Mumbai Indians. On the same surface, where the RR batters took the MI bowlers for a rollercoaster ride, the Mumbai batters struggled to score runs against the Rajasthan Royals in the second innings. Losing 9 wickets, MI managed to score 123, in reply to the Royals' 150.

For the Royals, Sandeep Sharma was the most successful bowler of the match, taking the wickets of Rohit Sharma and Shardul Thakur for an economy rate of 8.63 in 3 overs. It was Jofra Archer who first dented the Mumbai Indians' batting plans. In the first over of the second innings, Jofra Archer took the wicket of MI opener Ryan Rickelton. In 2 overs, the English pacer took a wicket for an economy rate of 8.50.

After securing the win, Rajasthan Royals captain Riyan Parag praised Jofra Archer

With the win, RR is top of the IPL 2026 points table with 6 points in 3 matches, and the Mumbai Indians dropped to seventh position with 2 points after playing 3.

"Jofra's messaging is just go out there and bowl as fast as you can, Nandre as well. On their own days, they're quick, lethal and they're in so much control. So I think someone who bowls 145-150 to be in such control is just crazy. And, Vaibhav and Jaiswal, I don't really have any words to express," RR captain, Riyan Parag, said in the presentation ceremony, after the match.

"Vaibhav (Sooryavanshi), I think he's just incredible. It's not one-way slogging. If you saw him in Ahmedabad, he assessed the conditions and went for it. Jaiswal, he's been doing it for 3-4 years now," he added.
