Joginder Sharma In Trouble As Case Filed Against Him Under Abetment Of Suicide
Former India cricketer Joginder Sharma finds himself in trouble as a case has been registered against him for his alleged involvement in the suicide of a Hisar resident. Joginder Sharma is currently posted as a Deputy Superintendent of Police in Haryana. He is known for bowling the crucial last over in the ICC T20 World Cup finals in 2007 against Pakistan.
A complaint has been filed against Joginder Sharma and five others for abetment of the suicide of a man over a property dispute. The five others alongside Sharma identified as Ajayveer, Ishwar Prem, and Rajendra Sihag, have also been named in the FIR (First Information Report) registered by Haryana Police for abetment of suicide.
Pawan, who was a resident of Hisar, hanged himself on January 1 over a property dispute. The next day which was January 2, Pawan’s mother, Sunita, filed a complaint with the police stating that a property-related case was pending trial in court. She accused six men, including former cricketer Joginder Sharma, of harassing her son, which ultimately led to his suicide.
Pawan’s family protested with his body and demanded the arrest of all six accused under the Scheduled Cast/Scheduled Tribes (Prevention of Atrocities) Act. They also kept their other demands which included financial support to the family and a fair probe into the case. A senior police official said, that the accused has been charged with abetment of suicide but the SC/ST act will be added only if the police find something in the investigation related to that. Meanwhile, Joginder Sharma denied any involvement in the case and said, “I am not aware of this case. I neither know nor have ever met Pawan.”
Joginder Sharma Is Known For His Last Over Heroics In The T20 World Cup Finals In 2007
Joginder Sharma has represented India in four ODIs and four T20Is and has also played 16 matches for Chennai Super Kings in the IPL. Joginder Sharma quit cricket in 2012-13 and joined Haryana Police as a DSP later.
