Rohit Sharma has looked horrible with the bat in the ongoing Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25
Rohit Sharma has looked horrible with the bat in the ongoing Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25. The India National Cricket Team skipper has slammed just 31 runs in the three games that he played in the series and also hasn't been at his best with his captaincy against the Australia National Cricket Team.
In India's 184-run defeat at Melbourne Cricket Ground, Rohit Sharma was animated in the field as well. He was seen expressing his frustration when Yashasvi Jaiswal dropped catches and the batter looked very emotional.
Rohit Sharma looks very tired to me - Justin Langer
Justin Langer pointed out that Rohit Sharma looked very tired, and it was unusual to see India's captain like that. He stressed that the batter usually is very calm but was emotional at MCG. He added that the right-hander looks stressed and it will be a big challenge for him in Sydney. Speaking as quoted by Hindustan Times, he explained:
"Rohit Sharma looks very tired to me. I saw him quite emotional on the field yesterday. That's unusual for us to see Rohit like that. He's usually so calm, so chilled out. But he was showing his emotions; he looked tired.
"It's understandable because as a cricketer, when you're not making runs, that's all that stays on your mind. And as captain, if you're not making runs and your team is not winning, the stress starts to come into the game. Whether he can get up for Sydney, that's up to him. It's a big challenge. India needs him to get up to speed in Sydney."
Indians would be hoping he comes good - Justin Langer on Virat Kohli
Justin Langer talked about Virat Kohli, who also has been struggling to score runs. He pointed out that the batter looked good in the first innings at MCG and is pretty fit, stressing that he will come good in the Sydney Test.
"With Virat, I agree [with Shastri]. He looked excellent in that first innings. Maybe the run out [of Jaiswal] did ruffle him, but we were surprised to see him get out the way he did. He is still a great player, is in outstanding physical condition, and all Indians would be hoping he comes good."
Virat Kohli scored a century in Perth and, after that, hasn't been at his best. It will be a great opportunity for him to bounce back in the Sydney Test, which will be played from 3rd January.
