Former wicketkeeper-batter Kamran Akmal has urged the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) to learn professionalism from the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI). Kamran Akmal also said that egos in the Pakistan Cricket Board are the reason behind the national cricket team's recent woes.

Pakistan has produced disappointing results across the formats this year. They started the year with a 4-1 T20I series loss in New Zealand. Pakistan managed to draw a five-match T20I series against a second-string Kiwis side. They exited from the group stage during the T20 World Cup 2024.

Pakistan, led by Shan Masood, recently faced a humiliating 2-0 Test series defeat against Bangladesh at home. The series loss highlights ongoing struggles within their cricket team over the past few years. Pakistan will next take on England for a three-match Test series next month at home.

PCB Should Learn From BCCI - Kamran Akmal

In a video shared on his YouTube channel, Kamran Akmal said that the Pakistan Cricket Board should adopt a systematic approach. Kamran said that the professionalism of BCCI, including its team management and selection processes, contributes to its success.

The cricketer-turned-expert criticized the PCB for its ego, adding that this has hindered Pakistan cricket's progress and led to their current struggles.

"PCB should learn from BCCI, their professionalism, their team, selector, captain, and coaches. These are the things that make a team number one and dominate the world. If we were so good, then Pakistan cricket wouldn't be here. It is because of your ego Pakistan cricket is suffering," Kamran said.

Pakistan suffered a heartbreaking loss in the Asia Cup 2022 final against Sri Lanka under Babar Azam's leadership. They were eliminated in the Super 4 stage of the same tournament the following year. The Men in Green failed to advance past the group stage in the ODI World Cup 2023.

Pakistan cricket underwent significant changes after last year's World Cup. Babar Azam stepped down as captain and was replaced by Shaheen Shah Afridi in T20I cricket. However, Babar was reinstated as the captain for white-ball formats months before the T20 World Cup 2024.

What An All-Round Performance From Ravichandran Ashwin - Kamran Akmal

Kamran Akmal lauded Ravichandran Ashwin for his outstanding all-round performance in India's 280-run win over Bangladesh in Chennai. He emphasized that India struggles to build a strong Test team at home without Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja.

"What an all-round performance from Ashwin. He took six wickets in the second innings and scored a century. It was a match-winning partnership with Jaddu," Akmal stated.

Bangladesh failed to put up a fight against India in the opening Test in Chennai. Ravichandran Ashwin set several records during the game and notably moved to eighth place on the all-time Test wicket-takers list by surpassing Courtney Walsh (519).
