New Zealand are set to take on Bangladesh in a three-match ODI series at home. An Indian-origin player Adithya Ashok is eyeing his ODI debut for New Zealand during the series against Bangladesh.
Adithya Ashok is a 21-year-old right-arm spinner. He has already made his T20I debut for New Zealand back in August in a match against UAE. Notably, New Zealand have rested many big names for the Bangladesh ODI series.
Senior members like Kane Williamson, Tim Southee, Trent Boult, Glenn Phillips, Daryl Mitchell, and Devon Conway among others are not part of the New Zealand vs Bangladesh ODI series. Tom Latham will lead the team in the three-match series.
Adithya Ashok, Two Other Debutants Named In New Zealand Squad
Other than spinner Adithya Ashok, two more debutants are part of the New Zealand ODI squad against Bangladesh. Seamer William O’Rourke and Joshua Clarkson are both part of the New Zealand squad and are highly expected to make their ODI debut during the Bangladesh series.
Adithya Ashok played a T20I game for New Zealand against UAE earlier this year. The leg spinner hunted 1 wicket in that match. Kiwi skipper Tom Latham hopes that the new players will show their best skills in the series.
“With a few guys resting there are opportunities. We hope the new guys come in and show off their skills as best they can. It’s a really exciting bowling attack”, Tom Latham said.
