Team India batter Karun Nair once again struggled to score big during the second innings of the ongoing second Test match against England at Edgbaston, Birmingham. The right-handed batter failed to convert a decent start into a half-century during the first session on the fourth day (Saturday, July 5).

The Men in Blue resumed the day's play at 64/1 with KL Rahul (28) and Karun Nair (7) at the crease. Yashasvi Jaiswal was dismissed by Josh Tongue in the final session of the third day. England bowler Brydon Carse provided an early breakthrough for his team by dismissing Karun Nair in the eighth over of the day.

Karun Nair Once Again Struggles to Convert Start into a Big Score

Karun Nair, who batted at No. 6 in the series opener, was promoted in the batting order for the contest. The right-handed batter departed after scoring 26 runs off 46 balls, including five boundaries. Nair played a drive, but the ball took the outside edge and Jamie Smith took a clean catch to his right.

Mohammed Siraj dismissed Joe Root and Ben Stokes in the same over to reduce the hosts to 84/5. However, Harry Brook and Jamie Smith added a 303-run stand for the sixth wicket. Brook scored 158 off 234 balls, including 17 fours and a six, while Smith remained unbeaten on 184.

Akash Deep broke the partnership by dismissing Brook with the second new ball. Siraj then ran through the tail, finishing with figures of 6/70, while Akash Deep ended with 4/88. England lost their last five wickets for just 20 runs and were bowled out for 407. India negotiated 13 overs before stumps.
