Former England cricketer Kevin Pietersen revealed why Bazball is not working in India, as they are now on the verge of losing the ongoing five-match T20I series after an embarrassing Test series loss to the Indian cricket team last year.

During a recent interaction with the fans on X, the former South African-born England batter was asked why Bazball is not working in India. Replying to the fan’s query, Pietersen has revealed a major flaw in England's all-format head coach Brendon McCullum's aggressive strategy.

Notably, Bazball is an aggressive style of cricket adopted by the England National Cricket Team since the former New Zealand captain Brendon McCullum became their head coach. This new approach has brought England impressive results in Test cricket since June 2022.

However, it failed to deliver against India in last year's five-match Test series, and now they are struggling in the ongoing T20I series, where England lost the first two matches against the Men in Blue. Meanwhile, Kevin Pietersen said that England’s ultra-aggressive approach will always fail against quality spin bowling, and that’s why they are struggling to deliver here.

Kevin Pietersen replied to a user during the Q&A session on X: “Baseball doesn’t work against high-quality spin consistently! There is an art to playing spin in the subcontinent.”

Notably, England's batters struggled against India's spin trio of Varun Chakravarthy, Axar Patel, and Ravi Bishnoi in the first T20I in Kolkata. Their struggles against the spin bowling continued in the second T20I as they lost six wickets to the spinners in Chennai.

Well, India and England both have left for Rajkot, where the third T20I will be played on Tuesday (January 28). They will also play a three-match ODI series before the upcoming Champions Trophy 2025, which will be held in Pakistan with India playing its matches in Dubai, UAE.

Pietersen takes a dig at Harry Brook's smog comments

Meanwhile, Pietersen was also asked about his favorite current cricketer during a Q&A session on X. He named England batter Harry Brook as his current favorite player, but with a playful jab. Harry Brook faced heavy criticism from fans and cricket legends after his bizarre comments following England's seven-wicket loss to India in the first T20I in Kolkata.

Brook had said that he didn't face Ravi Bishnoi but praised Varun Chakravarthy. He also blamed the smog as a reason for the difficulty in seeing the ball at Eden Gardens and hoped to have clearer air in Chennai for the second T20I they also lost by two wickets.

His remarks sparked a wave of trolling from fans and experts, and now the former England batter has also made the most of the moment to pull Brook’s leg on his social media handle. Pietersen posted in X: “Harry Brook (without the smog comment).”

Possibly: Pietersen on taking up a coaching role

Pietersen also hinted that he is ready to take up the coaching role. Notably, he represented England in 104 Tests, 136 ODIs, and 37 T20Is, amassing 8181 runs, 4440 runs, and 1176 runs, respectively.
