Shubman Gill slammed two back-to-back half-centuries in the ongoing series against England

Gill, who batted at No.3 in the first game, played a very mature knock and thrived under pressure. Chasing the target of 249 runs, India lost early wickets, and he made sure he stepped up for his side and took them to win.

Gill played a glorious innings of 87 runs as India won the game. After that, in the second ODI, he was back at the top but made sure that he continued his golden form. The batter slammed a second consecutive half-century and ended with a score of 60 runs to help India win.

So the technical change in that adjustment that Shubman Gill's made has made him into a quality player - Kevin Pietersen

Kevin Pietersen was in awe of Gill's performance as he pointed out how the batter has added a trigger moment in his game, which has improved his batting. He added that the technical adjustment has made the right-hander a quality player. Speaking to Star Sports, he said:

"I talked about a trigger when you get into big boy's cricket and you face the faster bowlers. You need a set yourself and it's a start that he's now started to take when he's been batting. I think that it's improved the way that he's played.

"I think it's improved him as a player, and it's calmed him down because it's given him a little bit more time. So the technical change in that adjustment that Shubman Gill's made has made him into a quality player."

He'll wanna get the 100 like Rohit - Shubman Gill

Kevin Pietersen added that Shubman Gill's ability to play pickup shot makes him intimidating to bowl to. He added that the batter would want to keep improving and get tons, just like Rohit Sharma did. He added:

"What makes it even more intimidating to bowl to, is his ability to just play that pickup shot, that little punch shot of the back foot, because a bowler can't just hover short of a length.

"What he's is get a full attack the top of the stumps or his bouncer has to be very, very good. So, he's improved this game. He'll want to keep improving, he'll wanna stop getting 60 and getting out. He'll wanna get the 100 like Rohit."
