Former England cricketer Kevin Pietersen heavily criticised the Indian batter Shubman Gill after he was dismissed for just 23 during the second day’s play of the first Test between India and England which was being played at the Rajiv Gandhi International Cricket Stadium in Hyderabad. Pietersen was critical of Gill’s approach and said that Shubman Gill was not able to rotate singles early on in his innings and that one drawback has been putting him in a lot of trouble.

Kevin Pietersen revealed ahead of Day 3 in Hyderabad that he had a chat with the head coach of the Indian cricket team Rahul Dravid. When asked to reveal the details about the chat, the former England cricketer did not disappoint. Kevin Pietersen said via the official broadcasters that he spoke to Rahul Dravid about how to take a positive approach with the bat in Indian conditions.

“We discussed batting in India again. Just reacquainting what the positive options are, and also you know, you sometimes get caught up in what the opposition is doing and you sometimes forget about how good you are,” Pietersen said on Star Sports ahead of the third day’s play of the 1st Test match in Hyderabad.

“In life, you have got to trust what you do, it was nice to spend time with someone who was so good and helped me in my career. Yesterday I was critical of Gill and I was praising KL Rahul and it is just about understanding players and their ability. It is always nice to speak to somebody of the stature who is doing so well for team India,” he further added.

Kevin Pietersen Was One Of The Stars For England When They Toured India In 2012

Kevin Pietersen was a member of the England team which toured India in 2012 and won the Test series against the hosts by 2-1. It was the last time when India was defeated in a Test series at home and Kevin Pietersen was a star for England in the tour as he scored 338 runs in seven innings at an average of 48.29 and played a brilliant innings of 186 in Mumbai to win the game against India. He had a great fan following in India and the crowd was also supportive of him as he played some good cricket in the subcontinent.

India has not lost any Test series at home since the defeat against England in 2012 and is on a 16 consecutive winning streak in home Tests. England will be hoping to repeat the 2012 performance but the Indian side is dominating the first Test as of now and has been playing some exciting cricket as they took a 190-run lead after the first innings of the match.

The spin-friendly conditions have troubled the English batters as the Indian spinners took eight out of the ten wickets in the first innings. The England batters have given a strong start in the second innings and are giving some competition to the Indian team in the first Test. The five-match Test series commenced on January 25 and will conclude in March.
