Kieron Pollard creates a record in T20s at the age of 39
Kieron Pollard is now the leading run-getter in T20 history. Through today’s match, he has surpassed the legends of the format like Chris Gayle. In front of the massive crowd at Washington Freedom, most of MI New York's batters went down cheaply. Pollard is the only one who stood tall against the fiery bowling attack of Freedom today.

A 56-ball 100 for Pollard
In the effort, Pollard claims his second T20 century today, which makes his place in the record book strong, but it was not enough to help the team win the match against the Washington Freedom. Kieron Pollard remains unbeaten for 100 off 56 with a strike rate of 178.57. The Caribbean's innings was decorated with eleven 4s and four 6s. Because of the ton from his bat, MI New York is able to score 215 against Freedom's 245.
Washington Freedom batter and Australian cricket star Mitchell Owen was outstanding in the first innings of the game, scoring 155 off 68. Experienced bowlers like Trent Boult, Corbin Bosch, and Pollard himself leak plenty of runs against the top-order batter.
Reveals his plans
Pollard expresses that it was a very good feeling for him as he surpassed Chris Gayle. Explaining his role as a lower middle-order batter, the former West Indies national cricket team player mentions that as a number 7 or number 6 batter, it has been very tough to score runs throughout the years.
Because of his age, there are a lot of speculations about retirement from franchise cricket, and Pollard himself is well aware of the fact. He says that he will continue, but at the expense of an emerging player's place.
Feel good. My friends, my family, who have supported me, so thank you very much. Chris Gayle is someone we look up to. Batting at No. 7 or 6, it's very, very difficult. My role over the period of time was to finish matches. I don't know," Kieron Pollard says after the match.
"I won't put a time to it. Once the desire is there, I am going to continue, but not at the expense of a youngster's place. What I am proud of is that we took a leap of faith. We got ridiculed for it, but now we are seeing youngsters play franchise cricket. Cricket is no more just a game; it's a business," he added.
