KKR vs GT: Rashid Khan Completes 100 Wickets In IPL, Becomes 4th Overseas Player, Overall 16th Bowler To Achieve The Feat
Rashid Khan is just 23 but he is already a legend in T20 cricket. He plays T20 cricket around the world and has done well wherever he has played. In IPL too he became just the 2nd overseas spin bowler to pick 100 wickets when he got to the feat against Kolkata Knight Riders on Saturday.
Sunil Narine was the first spinner to get to that feat.
Venkatesh Iyer Becomes Rashid Khan’s 100th Victim In The IPL
The match between KKR and GT was hanging in the balance when Rashid Khan returned to pick up the wicket of Venkatesh Iyer courtesy of a brilliant catch by Abhinav Manohar on the boundary to get to his 100 wickets in the IPL.
Rashid Khan made his IPL debut in 2017 for Sunrisers Hyderabad and played the majority of his cricket for them. But now he is part of the new franchise Gujarat Titans and he is their designated Vice-Captain. He also led them on their last game in the absence of Hardik Pandya and played a brilliant knock to take his side over the line.
Rashid Khan is the 2nd spinner but the 4th overseas bowler to pick more than 100 wickets. The others are Sunil Narine, Lasith Malinga and Dwayne Bravo.
Rashid Khan achieved the feat in just 83 innings and became the joint-fastest along with Amit Mishra to reach the milestone.
Rashid Khan picked up 2 for 22 in the match and was declared the player of the match. After the game, he said, “It is a kind of pressure when you are on 99. Luckily I got those two wickets and I am happy. But bowling economical helps put pressure.”
Rashid was the main bowler for SRH so when he was not retained there were a lot of question marks but since he has joined GT he has not looked back.
