Rohit Sharma is currently gearing up for the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) versus Mumbai Indians (MI) IPL 2024 clash at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata on Saturday, May 11. The Indian skipper has played several memorable knocks at Eden Gardens, and he will look for another brilliant knock against KKR.

Well, Rohit yet again hit the headlines with his one-liner ahead of the KKR vs MI clash on Friday at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata, as the MI opener recreated his viral “Garden” one-liner with his teammate Tilak Varma.

Actually, during one of the Test matches of the India versus England Test series earlier this year, Rohit urged his players to put more effort on the field, as they weren't roaming in a garden.

Wearing chappals, are you wandering in a garden? - Rohit Sharma teases Tilak Varma

He had said at that time, “Garden me ghoomne nahi aaye ho," which became a hit on various social media platforms. Now, in a lighthearted moment at Eden Gardens, Rohit shared a hilarious exchange with the young MI batter Tilak during the team’s practice on Friday.

The ‘Hitman’, known for his witty one-liners, couldn't hold himself from teasing Tilak, who was casually standing in slippers during the practice session at the Eden Gardens. As Rohit walked around, he saw Tilak wearing sandals during the pre-match preparations in Kolkata and he decided to tease the youngster with his witty one-liner.

Rohit playfully remarked to Tilak: “Aye hero, kya kar raha hai bhai? Chappal mein ghum raha hai, garden me aaya hai kya? (Aye hero, what are you doing? Wearing chappals, are you wandering in a garden?).” To which, Tilak cleverly replied by saying: “Hai na bhaiya, Eden Gardens" (Yes, brother, it's Eden Gardens!).”

Hearing that, Rohit stops and asks "Kya? Eden Gardens?" and turns away while smiling. The moment was captured and shared by the MI on the X (formerly Twitter). The amusing banter between Rohit and Tilak delighted the fans, with Rohit making headlines yet again for his “Garden” one-liner.

Can Rohit Sharma turn the table at Eden Gardens?

Notably, Rohit Sharma started his IPL 2024 campaign on a strong note but lost his momentum in the later stages of the tournament. The Indian skipper has so far amassed only 330 runs in 12 appearances for MI in the ongoing IPL 2024. As MI gears up to take on the KKR at Eden Gardens, Rohit aims to regain his form on his favorite ground.

Eden Gardens is special for Rohit, as he played many memorable innings for both India and MI at the venue. Notably, Rohit made his Test debut at Eden Gardens in 2013 and also scored 177 against the West Indies at this iconic venue.

Additionally, Rohit also made history in ODI cricket at Eden Gardens on November 13, 2014, when he smashed 264 runs against Sri Lanka, marking the highest individual score in ODI history. Now Rohit will certainly look to draw from past success when MI takes on KKR in the IPL 2024 clash.

However, the five-time IPL champion MI has been officially knocked out of the race for the IPL 2024 playoffs. They will play their last game of this season against the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) on May 17.
