Shikhar Dhawan will miss at least one more game for Punjab Kings in the ongoing IPL 2024, the franchise's bowling coach Sunil Joshi confirmed on Thursday (April 25).

The PBKS captain has been out of action since the game against Sunrisers Hyderabad on April 9. He has been sidelined since then due to a shoulder injury and has missed his team's last three games. In his absence, PBKS lost all three games and will be desperate to get back to winning ways when they take the field again. With Shikhar Dhawan sidelined, Sam Curran has been leading the team.

The Punjab-based outfit will be in action next on Friday (April 26) when they take on high-flying Kolkata Knight Riders at the Eden Gardens. While they will be desperate to return to winning ways, they will have to do it without Shikhar Dhawan. PBKS are hopeful that the veteran batsman will recover fully for the game against Chennai Super Kings on May 1.

"He was in form and we really missed his batting services. We saw him batting yesterday, going through the nets and everything," said Sunil Joshi on the eve of their match against KKR. "He is on the road to recovery. Hopefully, he should be fit for the next game."

Shikhar Dhawan in IPL 2024:

Shikhar Dhawan has scored 152 runs in five games this season. He started his campaign with a 22-run knock in the win against Delhi Capitals before scoring 45 and 70 against Royal Challengers Bengaluru and Lucknow Super Giants respectively. Both efforts came in a losing cause.

In his last two appearances for PBKS, the former India opener struggled to get going and was out for 1 and 14 against Gujarat Titans and Sunrisers Hyderabad respectively. He will be looking to hit the ground running on his return and help his side turn things around.

PBKS are currently languishing at the ninth spot in the points table with just two wins from eight games. They have lost their last four games at home and would be hoping that the change in venue for the upcoming game against KKR changes their fortunes as well.
