Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) pacer Mohammed Siraj emphasized the importance of maintaining a positive mindset amidst the challenges bowlers face in the ongoing IPL 2024.

Suraj further stressed the need to avoid dwelling on negative thoughts and to focus on staying comfortable and optimistic, as the bowlers are brutally hit by the batters in every second game of the ongoing IPL 2024, where the totals over 200 runs become a trend.

Furthermore, after Rohit Sharma and Ricky Ponting, the Indian pacer also expressed his displeasure over the impact player rule in the IPL. Siraj urged the BCCI to remove the Impact Player rule, highlighting the challenges the bowlers are facing on flat pitches, where batters aggressively attack every delivery.

Please remove this impact sub thing: Mohammed Siraj

He admitted that even good deliveries can be hit aggressively, so he just wants to maintain consistency. Siraj noted that the increasing frequency of high-scoring matches is the result of factors like the Pmpact Player rule and the modern pitches.

Mohammed Siraj was quoted as saying by Cricbuzz: “It's important to be comfortable, if you think too much, it'll lead to negativity and frustrations, so I always try to be as positive as possible, try to close all negative connotations around me.”

Speaking about the much-debatable Impact Player rule, the RCB pacer said: “Please remove this impact sub thing (laughs), the wickets are already flat and there's nothing for the bowlers in it, previously, it used to be slow at times, but the batters now come out swinging at absolutely everything. My game plan is to be consistent, if a good ball gets hit, so be it.”

Siraj signed off by saying, “It was a long time that teams made 250+, but it has become such a common feature now, thanks to impact sub and the flat pitches. It's been a long time since I've played a day game, I last played a day game during the Test series against England, but we're professionals and we have no excuses.”

Rohit Sharma and Ricky Ponting are against the rule

Earlier, Ricky Ponting, Delhi Capitals (DC) head coach, and Rohit Sharma, Mumbai Indians (MI) opener, said that they are not really big fans of the impact player rule as it is harmful to all-rounders and the game cricket should be a game of 11 players. Ponting said that it makes coaches’ job tough to pick the playing XI alongside five additional players for the substitute.

Meanwhile, Mohammad Siraj is currently playing against the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in the 36th match of the ongoing IPL 2024 at Eden Gardens. RCB won the toss and invited the KKR to bat first, with the hosts scoring 222/6 in 20 overs. KKR skipper Shreyas Iyer was the top scorer with a fifty.

For RCB, Yash Dayal and Cameron Green snared two wickets each, while Siraj and Lockie Ferguson managed one wicket each against the KKR at Eden Gardens. Speaking about the RCB’s campaign so far this season, they managed to win only one game of their seven games in the tournament.
