Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) and Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) are all set to lock horns with each other in the final of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024. The match will take place at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai on Sunday (26th May).

Kolkata Knight Riders entered the final of the IPL 2024 on the back of the dominating performances. They won their 9 league games and bagged the top spot at the points table. And then after that continued the good form in the Qualifier 1 of the tournament at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.

They defeated Sunrisers Hyderabad by 8 wickets and earned a place in the final of the tournament. The Pat Cummins-led side on the other hand had a great outing in the League stage and finished second on the points table. However, they succumbed to pressure in the first game of the playoffs against the Shreyas Iyer-led side.

But they made a solid comeback in the Qualifier 2 as they defeated Rajasthan Royals by 36 runs to meet Kolkata Knight Riders in the final. This is for first time they reached the final of the tournament since 2018, when they faced a disappointing loss against Chennai Super Kings.

Both the teams would be keen to leave an impact in the final and lift the title. Kolkata Knight Riders had their net session scheduled ahead of the final. But to their unfortunate, their training session on Saturday (25th May) was marred by the heavy rains at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai.

This has put the final of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 between Kolkata Knight Riders and the Sunrisers Hyderabad under doubt due to weather conditions. There's a possibility of rain on the game day as well there's a storm brewing in the Bay of Bengal that will affect the Eastern Ghats

What will happen if the IPL 2024 final gets washed out?

The weather prediction on the final day of the Indian Premier League shows 100% cloud cover during the match. Therefore there are chances of rain in the match. This has made me wonder what will happen if the IPL 2024 final gets washed out.

The cut-off time for the game will be 11:30. However, if the play is not possible even after that the match will be moving to a reserve day, which is May 27th. The Board of Control for Cricket in India has kept the reserve day for the final like they did last year and the match was completed on that.

The final of the IPL 2023 between Gujarat Titans and the Chennai Super Kings saw reserve day being used. But even on the reserve day, rain halted the play and the match was reduced. In the end, it was Chennai Super Kings who won the match on the last ball and clinched their 5th title in the league.
