KL Rahul started his domestic cricket career in 2010 playing for Karnataka. Considering his excellent performance in domestic cricket, he was selected for the Under-19 World Cup team. His performance in the Under-19 World Cup was very good, after which he got a chance to play for the South Zone team in the Duleep Trophy in 2014-15.

Playing against Central Zone, he scored 185 runs in the first innings and 130 runs in the second innings. Seeing his brilliant performance, he also received the Man of the Match award. After performing well in the Duleep Trophy, he was selected for the national Indian cricket team.
