India's middle order batter KL Rahul was dismissed for a duck in the first Test against New Zealand at M. Chinnaswamy Stadium, Bengaluru. Rahul came in to bat at No. 6 but could not last long as he was dismissed off just the sixth ball.

Fast bowler William O'Rourke bowled a ball moving outside leg stump which Rahul tried to flick it away through fine leg. But the batter was unlucky as he found a faint tickle through to the wicketkeeper Tom Blundell, who took the catch cleanly.

Rahul's dismissal led to a flurry of tweets on X. While some users called it a soft dismissal, some of them were highly critical of his flops show.

KL Rahul's recent form in Tests

The fans were clearly frustrated by the soft dismissal of KL Rahul and lambasted him for another poor show. With India having plenty of talented batters waiting on the wings for an opportunity, this might be time for Rahul to start performing consistently.

Rahul scored a brilliant 68 off just 43 balls in the second Test between India and Bangladesh at Kanpur. Recently, he has been batting at No. 6, below Rishabh Pant, who is preferred by the team management at No. 5.

India's top order crumbles

Meanwhile. India had a torrid morning session as they suffered badly in seaming conditions in Bengaluru. Star batters like Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli were dismissed for low scores.

With Rahul's dismissal, India were reduced to 33-5. Later, the Men in Blue lost Ravindra Jadeja as they went into lunch break at 34-6 with Rishabh Pant still at the crease.
