KL Rahul himself loses his opening spot to Rohit Sharma after Perth Test

India's makeshift opener KL Rahul was moved up the order to open the innings in Perth to replace Rohit Sharma at the top. Rahul started his cricket career as an opener but has moved up and down the order throughout his career so far.
He moved to the middle order earlier this year and it seemed like he finally has found a permanent spot in India's Test batting line-up. But with Rohit Sharma missing the first Test of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy, Rahul was again moved up to open the batting.
He didn't disappoint and played two excellent knocks in the match. In the first innings, he scored a solid 26 before being controversially given out caught behind. KL Rahul scored an excellent 77 in the second innings to give India a solid start.

KL Rahul breaks silence on his batting spot when Rohit Sharma comes back
Rohit Sharma has arrived in Perth and has also joined the Indian squad. He is likely to be a part of the second Test match in Adelaide which can move Rahul down the order in the batting line-up.
While speaking to 7Cricket, KL Rahul was asked about his batting spot with the return of Rohit Sharma. He claimed that Rohit will come into the Playing XI but did not specify his batting spot. Rahul left it upon the captain and the coach to decide about the batting spots and vowed to concentrate on the current game in Perth.
"He'll obviously walk in. We'll have to wait and see. I'm sure the captain and the coach have it sorted in their heads and we're just focused on today at the moment and try to get the 7 wickets that are left and then think about Adelaide when it comes and yeah, hopefully, get a chance in Adelaide," Rahul said.

KL Rahul likely to move down to No. 6
In the absence of regular captain Rohit Sharma, fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah is leading India in the first Test at Perth. Bumrah has been superb in the match so far both individually and as a captain. He picked up a five-wicket haul in the first innings.
Meanwhile, KL Rahul has staked his claim for the next match as well. However, he is likely to lose his opening spot despite two stellar knocks in that position. Rahul could bat at No. 6 in the next match to accommodate Rohit Sharma at the top.
Pressure on Rohit Sharma to perform
With Rahul performing, Rohit Sharma will be under pressure to score runs as well. India's captain hasn't been in great form in red-ball cricket recently and will be looking to turn his form around.
The second Test in Adelaide will be a day-night Test which will be played with a pink ball. The match will be played from December 6-10 at Adelaide Oval.
