The Koninklijke Nederlandse Cricket Bond (KNCB) has announced a complete Netherlands-based squad for the Cricket World Cup Super League series against the Pakistan National Cricket Team as the county-contracted Dutch contingent was unavailable for selection due to English domestic cricket commitments.
The three Cricket World Cup qualifying matches are scheduled to be played on August 16, 18 and 21 at the VOC’s cricket ground in Rotterdam. Pakistan will be playing for the first time against the Netherlands on Dutch soil since an unofficial tour match in 1992 at the Hague.
Meanwhile, the 38-year-old all-rounder Wesley Barresi has returned to the squad for the series against Men In Green and the 20-year-old Arnav Jain has got a call-up after a successful run in the domestic cricket for VOC Rotterdam.
Scott Edwards is set to lead the Netherlands side and Musa Nadeem Ahmad has returned to the squad to compete for a spot in the top or middle order. Logan van Beek is expected to lead the pace attack of the Netherlands alongside Bas de Leede while Ryan Klein and Vivian Kingma will be competing for the slot of the third pacer.
Notably, only Netherlands-based have been picked for the series against Pakistan National Cricket Team because the UK-based players will be fulfilling the English domestic cricket commitments. There are in total 7 players, who were unavailable for selection due to English domestic cricket commitments.
Leicestershire captain Colin Ackermann and premier pacer Fred Klaassen are participating in The Hundred competition for the Manchester Originals. All-rounder Roelof van der Merwe is playing for the Northern Superchargers in The Hundred and Timm van der Gugten is representing the Birmingham Phoenix.
Also, three UK-based players, including Shane Snater, Brandon Glover and Paul van Meekeren are playing for their respective counties in the ongoing season of the Royal London One-day Cup.
