West Indies National Cricket Team skipper Kraigg Brathwaite achieved a massive feat for his team in the history of Test cricket. He overtook Sir Garfield Sobers to become the player with the most number of consecutive games for the team in the longest format of the game.

West Indies National Cricket Team captain Kraigg Brathwaite achieved the feat in the ongoing second Test against the Bangladesh National Cricket Team. The game between the two teams commenced on Saturday (30th November) at Sabina Park in Kingston, Jamaica.

Skipper Kraigg Brathwaite now has played 86 consecutive matches for the West Indies National Cricket Team, overtaking Garry Sobers, who played 85 games on the trot. The batter has been one of the incredible servants for the team in the longest format of the game.

Brathwaite has been a consistent performer for the West Indies National Cricket Team. He is one of only five openers worldwide to surpass 5,000 Test runs between 2014 and 2024, and with the way he is going, it won't be a surprise if he plays 100 games on the trot in the longest format of the game.

“It means a lot. I’m extremely thankful because in this generation, there’s a lot of T10 and T20 cricket, but Test cricket is the real test. In the end, I will feel like I’ve done a really good job for the West Indies.”

“My goal—I will never forget—was to play 100 Test matches. Not just to play them, but to earn 100 caps for the West Indies. That is what my life has been about. Test cricket is everything to me, and I can never be in this position without putting God first.”

"You know, it’s just hard work. Hard work over the years, knowing what to improve, and identifying areas to work on when you get back home. To succeed at this level for a long time, only hard work and perseverance will get you through.”

"It’s great to make a debut hundred, a maiden century—that’s lovely. But it’s how you respond when the failures come that defines you as a Test cricketer. People will talk, but it’s about how you fight back and remain at the top level. To now be tying Sir Garfield Sobers’ record—*that* is what hard work does.”
