The India National Cricket Team got a surprising defeat against the Ireland National Cricket Team on Friday at Belfast by 34 runs. After the defeat, several former cricketers have taken a dig at Shreyas Iyer and his boys, calling them overconfident. Iyer himself slammed some bowlers in the post-match presentation for not keeping up the pressure, especially Prasidh Krishna, who gave 57 runs.

Prasidh went wicket-less in the game and gave away 57 runs in his four-over spell, with one of his overs going for 27 runs; he had an economy rate of 14.25. After the poor performance, the Karnataka-based pacer created some unwanted records in the match. He became the most expensive over bowled by an Indian against Ireland in T20I cricket.

Prasidh Krishna creates unwanted record

Apart from that, Krishna added another unwanted record; he has now conceded 125 runs across his last two T20I appearances, the most by any bowler in successive T20Is.

In his previous T20I match, he went for 68 runs in 4 overs without taking a wicket. After the pacer’s poor performance, former India captain and chief selector Krishnamachari Srikkanth has taken a dig at the current selection committee headed by Ajit Agarkar.

"Bhuvneshwar Kumar should be an automatic choice"- Kris Srikkanth demands Bhuvneshwar Kumar in the team

Kris Srikkanth believes that Krishna should be dropped immediately, and veteran pacer Bhuvneshwar Kumar should be the obvious choice in the team.

"Prasidh Krishna kept bowling in the good length. He bowls perfectly in the slot. The five overs between him and Sundar cost India the game. Bhuvneshwar Kumar should be an automatic choice in this bowling lineup. Prasidh Krishna bowls at just the perfect pace and length to get smashed. He wasn't great even in this IPL," he said on his YouTube channel, Cheeky Cheeka (7:04).

Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Prasidh Krishna performances in IPL 2026

Krishna did not have the best of the TATA Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026; he finished the tournament playing 12 matches, taking 16 wickets at an economy of 10.44. Contrasting with which Bhuvneshwar Kumar was excellent throughout the league with the new ball, middle overs, and in the death as well.

Bhuvneshwar Kumar finished the IPL as the leading wicket-taker and won the Purple Cap for the second time. He made history by becoming the first fast bowler in IPL history to take 200 wickets, and finished off with 28 wickets in 16 matches.

India's overall bowling was ordinary- Kris Srikkanth slams India's bowling

Kris Srikkanth also believed that the five overs between Washington Sundar and Prasidh Krishna were the turning point of the match. As both of them gave away 76 runs between them without taking a wicket. India were bundled out for 148 runs. The Men in Blue would like to level the series.

"India's overall bowling was ordinary. Everyone else bowled well but Prasidh Krishna and Washington Sundar were terrible. Sundar doesn't bowl in the IPL itself. Dube surprisingly looked deadly as a bowler. He looks a more confident international player than in the IPL," said Srikkanth
