Lucknow Super Giants all-rounder Krishnappa Gowtham opened up about the details of the fight between Naveen-ul-Haq and Virat Kohli during the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023. He said that banter between the players is part and parcel of the game, and both players are passionate about the game.

Virat Kohli and Naveen-ul-Haq were the hot soup of the Indian Premier League 2023. During the game between Lucknow Super Giants and Royal Challengers Bengaluru, both the players were involved in a brutal face-off, and it also saw then LSG mentor Gautam Gambhir getting involved as well.

The fight between Virat Kohli and Naveen-ul-Haq started during the game when the RCB batter was having a go at the opposition. The fast bowler also didn't go easy on the batter and the fight continued even during the post-match handshakes, where they shared brutal words.

After that, they kept having a go at each other, and it then saw Lucknow Super Giants mentor Gautam Gambhir taking the side of Naveen-ul-Haq. The current India National Cricket Team head coach had a spat with Virat Kohli as well, and it became a major talking point.

Now after two years, Krishnappa Gowtham spoke about the feud between Virat Kohli and Naveen-ul-Haq. He stressed that the incident happened due to the heat of the moment. He stressed that Kohli is passionate about winning while the fast bowler is a fighter.

Gowtham also stressed that things like these happen in high-pressure games and stated that it was banter between two top athletes wanting to win the game for their respective teams. Speaking to CricTracker, he explained:

"It’s a part and parcel of the game. It happened due to the heat of the moment. Virat being Virat, we all know the passion he has. He wants to win, no matter what. Likewise, Naveen is a fighter. I think these kinds of banters happen in high-pressure games.

"That is the beauty of the sport. It lets the emotions out. Sometimes you can control it but sometimes you can’t. When your adrenaline is high, it’s high. It was banter, and a lot of people talked about it, but it was just two top athletes competing with each other and wanting to win the game for their respective teams." said Krishnappa Gowtham.

He is straight on your face, whatever it is - Krishnappa Gowtham on Gautam Gambhir

Krishnappa Gowtham also talked about playing under Gautam Gambhir. He said that the current India National Cricket Team head coach knows how to get the best out of his players. He said that the former skipper of India doesn't sugarcoat things and is straight on face.

"GG bhai is someone who is upfront. He will tell you the way exactly it is, how to prepare yourself for high-pressure games. He knows how to get the best out of the players. The way he talks to a player, the way he motivates.. it’s a different ballgame.

"He makes sure that everyone is comfortable. The other thing is that he makes sure what is right is right, and what is wrong is wrong. He will also never sugarcoat things. He is straight on your face, whatever it is,” Krishnappa Gowtham concluded.
