Bengaluru Police Filed FIR Against RCB Franchise on Thursday
The Bengaluru Police registered an FIR on Thursday against the Royal Challengers Bengaluru franchise following the deadly stampede outside M Chinnaswamy Stadium.
The FIR stated that police had previously denied RCB permission to host the event at the stadium.
Despite this, the celebration went ahead, leading to RCB being named as the primary accused, along with their event partner DNA Entertainment and the Karnataka State Cricket Association.
On Friday, newly appointed police commissioner SK Singh, who replaced the former top cop after the incident, arrested Nikhil Sosale, RCB’s Head of Marketing and Revenue.
However, the KSCA challenged the FIR in court, filing a writ petition that described the move as made under political pressure.

The Rajat Patidar-led team secured a top-two spot and faced Punjab Kings (PBKS) in the first qualifier, where they won convincingly by eight wickets to reach the final.
In the final, RCB batted first and posted a solid total of 190 for 9 in their 20 overs. Their disciplined bowling attack then restricted PBKS to 184 for 7, securing a six-run victory and their maiden IPL trophy. This was the first time RCB managed to claim the title.
