As it says, only a diamond can cut another diamond. When Gujarat Titans’ (GT) experienced keeper-batter Josh Buttler was in full flow, Kuldeep Yadav stepped in for the Delhi Capitals (DC) and stopped the storm. Buttler departed after securing a half-century, providing GT a good start against the Delhi Capitals at the Arun Jaitley Stadium.

After the dismissal of Sai Sudharshan, Jos Buttler came to bat as the number three batter of GT. He took very little time to settle down on the track before starting the carnage. The England international scored 52 runs, facing only 27 deliveries. During the course, the top order batter hammered three 4s and five 6s, for a strike rate of 192.59.

Kuldeep Yadav again clinched a roaring Jos Buttler from the track.

It was not the first time Kuldeep Yadav dismissed Buttler. According to stats, the Indian spinner took the batter 4 times in 77 balls, conceding 100 runs. Today, to dismiss Jos Buttler, the spin wizard kept the third ball of the 8th over of the first innings quicker, shortish, and around middle. The batter went to hoist the ball, but missed it badly and ended up losing a wicket. Kuldeep Yadav bowled out Jos Buttler, Gujarat Titans 79/2 in 7.3 overs.

Jos Buttler’s quick-pace knock came at the right moment when Titans lost one of their proven batters in the form of Sai Sudharshan. Shubman Gill, the captain of the team, was on the track, holding one front of the crease. Experienced keeper-batter, who was well aware of his role, scored runs rapidly. While Gill was playing an anchor role, Buttler was dealing with the boundaries.

600th maximum for Jos Buttler in the T20 format

The batter’s 192.59 strike rate was because of those eight boundaries (Three fours and five maximums) he hit against the Delhi Capitals bowlers. Through the 52-run knock, the 35-year-old touched a milestone- 600th maximum in his overall T20 career.

In the previous two IPL 2026 games for the Gujarat Titans, Buttler registered 38 and 26 runs against the Punjab Kings (PBKS) and the Rajasthan Royals (RR), respectively.

In his overall IPL career, playing for three different teams, he smashed 7 centuries and 25 half-centuries, which proved why he is still considered one of the most lethal batters in the shortest format of the game. In 122 IPL innings, the right-handed batter claimed a total of 418 fours and 192 sixes. But they often find it hard to face the chinaman spinner, Kuldeep Yadav.

Ahead of the DC vs GT match, Kuldeep was not at his best. After taking a brace against the Lucknow Super Giants, he remained wicketless against the Mumbai Indians.
