India spinner Kuldeep Yadav has landed himself in a conflicting place with the Kanpur government after reportedly taking a jab of the covid-19 vaccine at a ‘guest house’, which is considered an unregistered location.

The chinaman, who was recently dropped from India’s Test side for the tour of England, received a dose of the COVID-19 vaccine on Saturday. Kuldeep Yadav posted a photo of himself getting vaccinated on Twitter, and urged everyone to get their dose whenever available in the fight against the pandemic.

“Get vaccinated immediately whenever you get a chance. Be safe because you need to be united in the fight against COVID-19,” Kuldeep Yadav tweeted in Hindi.

However, this hasn’t gone down well for the leg-spinner – the Kanpur district administration has ordered an inquiry probe into the allegation that he was injected the vaccine at the guest house and not at the hospital where he had originally booked a slot.

According to reports in India Today, the 26-year-old was given a vaccine shot in the lawn of the Kanpur Nagar Nigam guest house, instead of the Jageshwar Hospital in Govind Nagar where he had booked an appointment.

The Kanpur District Magistrate Alok Tiwari said ADM Atul Kumar has been asked to inquire about the matter properly and submit the report at the earliest.

Kuldeep Yadav likely to feature on the tour of Sri Lanka

Kuldeep Yadav, who had played just one Test in more than two years after taking a five-for in Sydney in 2019, was dropped from the Test side for the tour of the UK, which includes the World Test Championship final against New Zealand and a 5-Test series versus England.

The chinaman who was once a crucial part of the white-ball side has found himself being used sparingly in the limited-overs cricket as well post the 2019 World Cup. He is, however, likely to make the cut for the white-ball tour of Sri Lanka that comprises three ODIs and three T20s in July, as most of the first-choice players will be in England.

He recently featured in 2 of the 3 ODIs against England at home but was taken for cleaners by the English batters. The spinner returned with figures of 0/68 and 0/84 before getting dropped for the last game. He last played a T20I in January 2020.
