Before the heavy rain completely took over the match in Birmingham, it was an eventful first innings of the first of the 5-match T20I series between India and England. Batting first, India posted a formidable total of 189/7 on the board.

The match was eventually abandoned after the first innings because of rain. Ishan Kishan found himself again as a victim of a pinpoint throw. In the ongoing UK tour, the Indian keeper-batter lost his wicket again for a run-out. An accurate throw from the England captain Harry Brook dismissed Ishan for a 2-ball duck.

Ishan Kishan got run out in two back-to-back matches

Ishan Kishan and Abhishek Sharma were involved in a huge mix-up in the middle. On the final ball of the second over, Ishan pushed the ball towards the mid-on region and quickly took off from his crease to steal a single. He might not have noticed that Brook was right on the spot to collect the ball.

The batter quickly turned back from the midway point of the pitch and dived at the end to save himself. Even the dive was not enough to protect the stumps. England keeper Jos Buttler collected the ball and dismantled the stumps, wasting no time.

As all of these actions happened in a very short period of time, the umpire went straight to the third umpire for review. Meanwhile, when the umpire was reviewing the incident, Abhishek Sharma, who was then on the non-striker’s end, had a brief conversation with Ishan Kishan. The conversation between the two batters was caught on the mic.

According to the audio, Abhishek Sharma asked his batting partner whether he had reached his crease in time. Then he said he at least saw where the fielder was standing.

“Pohcha ki nahi pohcha? (Did you reach or not?) Close? Kya kar raha hai yaar Ishan? Dekh toh sahi kaha khada hai woh (What are you doing, buddy Ishan? At least see where he is standing)," Abhishek was heard saying.

In response, Ishan Kishan said that he was not well aware of the position of the fielder. He hit a boundary and just started running for a single.

Before the 5-match T20I opener of the England series, when India was up against Ireland for the second and decisive match in Belfast, Ishan Kishan lost his scalp again for a run-out. That run-out came from a massive mix-up between Ishan and Tilak Varma.

Another record-breaking knock by Abhishek Sharma for India

The run-out on July 1, however, did not have much effect as the second half of the match was washed out, without playing a single ball.

Abhishek Sharma was brilliant again with his batting work, securing yet another quick-paced half-century for India. The left-handed opener scored 59 runs from 24 balls, with six 4s and four 6s. As a Team India batter, it was the quickest fifty in England in that format as he reached the mark, enduring only 20 balls.
