India and New Zealand will face each other in the final of the inaugural ICC World Test Championship (WTC) which will be played in England. The Kane Williamson-led team was the first one to qualify for the finals, while India had to take a hard route to make it into the finals.
While New Zealand played all of the Test matches in the World Test Championship qualification in its home, India had to defeat Australia and England in its last two-Test series to end up topping the points table and qualifying for the final. India beat Australia 2-1 in their own backyard and then beat England 3-1 in India to make it into the finals.
Many New Zealand and India players are involved in the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL 2021) edition and it seems players from both sides are trying to get something from their opponents. This included India’s Virat Kohli trying to get New Zealand all-rounder Kyle Jamieson, both of who are playing for Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB)
‘No Chance I Am Going To Ball At You!’: Kyle Jamieson Refuses To Bowl With Dukes Ball To Virat Kohli In RCB Nets
RCB all-rounder Dan Christian revealed that Virat Kohli is trying to get some help from his teammate New Zealand’s Kyle Jamieson before the India-New Zealand faceoff in the World Test Championship final, but has been unsuccessful so far.
Dan Christian mentioned that Kyle Jamieson who was picked by RCB in the IPL 2021 auction for INR 15 crores, is carrying a couple of Dukes balls, which will be used in the WTC final in Southampton from June 18 between India and New Zealand. Virat Kohli tried to get Kyle Jamieson to bowl to him with the Dukes ball in RCB nets, but the New Zealander did not fall for that trick.
“Pretty cagey from Virat actually, right in the first week we were here. The three of us were sitting down after the nets and these two were talking about Test cricket. Virat said: ‘So Jamie (Kyle Jamieson) have you bowled much with the Dukes ball?’ and they are talking about that stuff.
Jamie says: ‘Yeah, I have a couple of them here, I will have a bowl leading in before I go over there’ and Virat says ‘Oh, if you want to have a bowl against me in the nets, I am more than happy to face’.
Jamie was like, ‘No chance I am going to ball at you!’ He would have looked at his release point and everything that he does with the Dukes ball! (chuckles),” Christian said on The Grade Cricketer’s YouTube channel.
Jamieson was a thorn in the Indian team when they toured New Zealand in 2020 and troubled the Indian batsman a lot.
