Former IPL chairman Lalit Modi has responded to Sreesanth's wife's social media slaughter after he had publicly released the 17-year-old video, which showed the infamous slap-gate incident between Sreesanth and former Indian spinner Harbhajan Singh.
The IPL has always been a very healthy contest; however, in the game of cricket, there are often moments that turn up the heat and lead to physical as well as verbal confrontations among players.
Such an incident unfolded back in IPL 2008, the inaugural season of the hyped franchise cricket league, one of the oldest in the world. Today, the IPL is one of the most decorated cricket leagues in the world; however, the former Chairperson, Lalit Modi, has now brought to light a humiliating incident dating back to 2008.

Recently, when former two-time World Cup-winning Australian batter Michael Clarke interviewed the former IPL chairman Lalit Modi, a controversy erupted when the two discussed the past IPL events on the podcast.
During the show, Clarke asked Modi about the infamous incident between Harbhajan Singh, who slapped Sreesanth during a contest between the Mumbai Indians and the Kings XI Punjab.
Modi revealed the footage, which circulated on social media platforms, that marked Harbhajan striking Sreesanth with a backhanded slap during post-match handshakes. Harbhajan had to bear an 11-match suspension after the incident.

The video shows Harbhajan calling Sreesanth over during post-match handshakes before delivering the backhanded slap. Harbhajan Singh has apologized over the incident multiple times, often referring to it as his biggest regret.
After the social media went blazing and Sreesanth turned into a laughing stock overnight, his wife slammed the likes of Clarke and Modi through her social media platform.
She said: “Shame on you @lalitkmodi and @michaelclarkeofficial. You people are not even human to drag up something from 2008 just for your own cheap publicity and views. Both @sreesanthnair36 and Harbhajan have long moved on in life and are fathers now with school-going children, and yet you try to throw them back into an old wound. Absolutely disgusting, heartless, and inhuman.”
She also urged Modi and Clarke to consider the consequences of their actions: “Fear God. You are causing pain to families and innocent children for your own benefit.”
Modi responds to Sreesanth's wife's brutal attack on social media
Lalit Modi had revealed that the incident was caught in the security cameras of his, after the broadcasters had turned their cameras off; hence, the footage was not found on any platform until now.
“I don't know why she (Sreesanth's wife Bhuvneshwari) is getting angry. I was asked a question, and I shared the truth. I can't do anything about that. I am known to speak the truth. Sree was the victim, and that's exactly what I said. No one had asked me this question earlier, so when Clarke quipped, I responded,” Modi told IANS.
